  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

NFL sponsorship by hyundai

I'm surprised considering they have no Trucks to offer up in this deal.

The only truck like vehicle ever issued to a mvp was the Escalade, otherwise it was Vettes and Camaros and a convertible caddy.

One thing for sure is it will really put the Genesis on the map if next year the mvp is awarded this and I assume he will be. :D

It's not just a matter of the car given to the MVP, but also a whole string of advertising tie-ins with the NFL. Football, unlike NASCAR, goes across a much wider economic strata, and I don't think NFL fans are more prone to buy pickups than the general public.

Hyundai may be hurt by lack of trucks and SUV/CUV's at current gas prices, but that holds true whether they sponsor the NFL or not.

Did you watch this year's Super Bowl? Tom Brady received a Chevy Colorado pickup which he gave to Malcolm Butler. Or are you talking about the CFL?

Maybe they will give them one of these:

I'm not a big truck guy but love the look.

Last years MVP was awarded a Chevrolet Colorado, and he gave it away. I think any overpaid athlete would rather have a Genesis. I know I would. Can wait for the ads!

An MVP like Tom Brady is not going to be driving a Genesis unless they pay him to endorse it (and I don't mean just free cars). Brady's wife just retired, but was the highest paid model in the world for the last 8 years and made more than he did, so they are rolling in cash.

Brady gave away the truck because the person he gave it to deserved it (for making one of the greatest defensive plays in NFL history and winning the Super Bowl for the Patriots).

I know why he gave it away and I agree. The post was in reference to "The only truck like vehicle awarded was a Escalade......"

If you're going to sponsor a sport in the US, it might as well be the NFL, but $50 mil/yr ($200 million over the course of the contract is a hard pill to swallow).

Don't think this was a prudent use of advertising $$ at this juncture since I doubt an NFL partnership is going to get Hyundai to sell more Sonatas and Elantras than it does currently.

Hyundai's CUVs are capacity constrained and that won't be addressed until Hyundai builds another NA plant (supposedly will put a shovel to the ground late this year for completion in 2017.

By then - Hyundai will have addressed its CUV capacity issue and have a bunch of new models ready for launch - new Equus, Santa Cruz pick-up, maybe Genesis-based CUV, etc.

But I guess it's a timing thing as to when these contracts expire.
