  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There is a slight A/C vibration though the steering wheel. It is not to the level described above.

Yours seems to be the AWD, which has less A/C vibration than the RWD based on what I can tell from posts of others about the 2015 V6. 2015 V8 owners don't seem to be affected as much (or at all) by the vibration.

This is very disappointing because the first generation (2009-2014) V6 has had no A/C vibration reports in this forum at all, and I cannot even tell when the A/C is cycling on and off, either at idle or at speed on my G1 V6.

Again, this is totally different than the tire/wheel vibration that may occur.

I can feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel at idle. If I turn of the a/c it seems to decrease significantly. It is not enough of a vibration to cause me issue or concern.

We have 41 respondents to the poll so far. This is great and thanks for your participation. Still, I would love to see some more folks take the time to contribute. If you haven't responded yet, please do!

Currently, nearly 20% (19.51%) of respondents have a continuing vibration problem that has not been resolved. :(

I have a 3.8 AWD and had a horrible vibration rough ride on a recent interstate trip from Indiana to South Carolina. I've not driven the car much this week since I've been at the beach but plan on driving from SC to West Virginia and then WV back to Indiana this weekend. Should give me another set of interstate roads to check for vibration on.

Just did 250 miles on my 3.8 AWD today (running the original Hankooks). I had the cruise set at 75 mph, but ran it up to 97 at one point passing some trucks - no vibration at all: smooth, quiet ride and great handling!

I only test drove one car (3.8) for a short time, but I noticed as soon as I got on the highway, about 60-70mph, the vibration was noticeable. I was hoping this was because they hadn't replaced the tires yet. If this continues on a new car with the replacement tires, that's going to be seriously irritating. I've never had a car do that before, much less brand new at $45,000...

I've test driven two vehicles. Both exhibited vibration across the speed band. One drive (3.8 AWD) was for over a half hour, the second (5.0 RWD) for over an hour, with no end to the vibration after "warm up." That's quite disappointing and why I started this poll.

The dealers know that this is an issue, and if they could, you'd think they would have the problem rectified in the test vehicle before a prospective buyer gets behind the wheel.

Although the issue seems to be "flat Spots" it would seem logical that every Hyundai Genesis, plus many other makes would have the same problem, I believe there is a manfacturing defect, this was somewhat confirmed when my dealer's service manager replaced a drive shaft and then started to look further, unfortunately he was replaced.
Hyundai seems to be choosing to ignore the problem by placing the blame on tire manfacturers

There are two Tire vibration 'issues'. The first is from flat-spotting when the car is parked for long periods. This was evident with the original Hankook tires and was the reason given for the replacement by the Michelins. For me at least, this was never a big issue as the vibration was mild and it went away fairly quickly. The Michelins exhibit exactly the same flat-spotting issue as the Hankooks, by the way.
The second vibration problem occurred after the Michelin tires were fitted and seems not to affect every vehicle. In my case, I had a significant vibration at highway speeds (60-85 mph) that three attempts at wheel balancing have not been able to cure. Other posters have had exactly the same experience. I am not yet convinced it is a tire problem either, but obviously it is related to the change in tires. My dealer put a set of wheels and tires on my car from a Genesis on their lot that still had the Hankook tires. The vibration went away immediately, which means it is not a drivetrain problem. I suspect bent wheel rims, but this has yet to be proven. My dealer is fitting another set of new Michelins tomorrow, so we will see what happens.

I agree on all counts. If it's convenient and doable please ask the dealer to inspect your wheels carefully for any bending. So far, AFAIK, I'm the only one to this point that has any identified bent wheels and would be interested in finding out if anyone else is having the same problem. TIA.

I take it then that you have an ongoing problem that has not been rectified. :(

BTW, the percentage of respondents that have an ongoing vibration problem that has not been fixed, is climbing. We're now at 23% of the 48 who have participated in the poll.

So would this presumably be fixed on the 2016s?

That's hard to say. There's no evidence so far that they even know what's causing it and they can't fix it 'til they know what's broke. :)

thats correct the "flat Spots" still exist. This problem occured even with borrowed wheels, i can't belive it is bent rims because the problem deminishes to a vibration after been driven for a while.
if it were bent rims i would think the problem would be continuous,

Not necessarily. Bent rims aren't always noticeable and the vibration, if evident, can come and go.

Read my original response to your question. There are two vibration issues, flat-spotting which goes away after the tires warm up and highway speed vibration that doesn't go away, that might be due to distorted or bent rims.
