My first little glitch...

Not a big deal, really. I'm going to keep an eye on this in case it repeats itself. Just keeping you guys informed.

This morning as I backed out of the garage, the backup sensors were telling me there was something behind the car - and there wasn't (I checked as soon as the beeping started). When I backed out of a parking space this afternoon there was no problem. I dunno... maybe cooler temps this morning caused a connector to have a bad connection?

Hopefully it's not going to be a recurring problem.

My parking sensors started doing this in january, and have now failed completely. dealer has a case open with hyundai canada. i should be back in soon.

another symptom is the car beeps six times - 3 x 2 short beeps when started if the park aid is enabled.

Sorry to hear that your parking sensors have been problematic. I agree with you that both the sensor failure and the extra beeps are most likely related. I hope Hyundai can resolve things quickly for you.

Mine also beeps when backing out of the garage. I believe it is because the sensors on the side of the car are picking up the edge of the garage opening.
They work fine all the other times.

OK, talking about small glitches.

1. One other member plus myself had the ESC lamp come on when starting the car, and then could not get the car out of Park. Had to shut engine off, then restarted. All was well at that point. Happened to me only once.

2. A few days ago, got to car, pushed the black button on the drivers door, and heard nothing. Door would not unlock. Thought the battery in the key fob was bad. Walked around to passenger door, and pushed black door button, and car unlocked. Walked back to driver door and tried the black button again (although car was now unlocked) and it would not lock. Tried the button on the key fob, and it locked door. Tried button on drivers door again, and this time it worked. Happened only that one time and has worked perfect since then.

All these computerized electronic devices need to be rebooted once in a while I guess.

FYI, I later got to thinking how I've never tried the key that is located inside the key fob, just to see if it works, (Hey, you never know). Tried it and yes, the key works in the door. Someday I'll try it in the trunk and glove box.

If you look at your center display during activation...it will tell you what sensor is picking up the closest object to the car.

For me it shows the back right and as I continue to ease out of the garage it will show the front right.

The same happens to me too. As soon as the sensor gets past the garage door frame, the beeping stops. I like this feature because the door edge is about 6 inches away and make me be aware that it is close to the car.

I experience the same thing everytime I back out of the garage. The rear sensors pick up the side of the garage frame as you back out. this is confirmed if the alarm ends after your rear tires clear the door area.

suspension I don't bother to mention it.

Truth is two dealers, six visits, no fix, three months,result :
"Parking aids inop.scanned codes B1621 sensor power line error.
As of 3/13 - setting up factory engineer appt." [if I last that long]

Suspension : "working as per designed"

After owning 42 cars This Genesis is the very worst of all, from the car to the
service. to the techs, it's uniform - It's all defective !

I had a glich while backing up as well. I hit the voice activation just as I hit reverse. It never released the stereo. So there was no sound. I had to shut car off and restart and then all was well.

does anyone know how to reboot the head unit. I have the tech pkg with nav, etc.

Unfortunately, I feel as if all I read on this forum is the negative aspects and opinions of the G machine. As if every other car is perfect, but yet members still keep the Genesis. Hmmm....

It's funny how you hear many people mention a movie they dislike, but you may not hear about the movies they enjoy.

You're right - it actually is the Coupe forum, but I assume that all of the components for the backup sensor system are the same. Sedan owners are welcome here.

The sedan is different, though, in that the Coupe does not have the obstruction location display. It's a shame, since the display sounds like a nifty feature...
