If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can i remove the ESC fuse

So my first run I just got on the stall a little and didn't floor it but very quickly got on the throttle. The car hooked great. The second run I got up on the stall hard then just nailed it and got a little tire spin but had a slower 60 ft time than the first time. So just nailing the throttle didn't work out so well. Although I was running 36lbs in the rear tires. I did not let any air out as I just went for fun. If I run it again I will let a little air out and get on it hard off the line to see if I can improve the 60ft. 2.1 is fairly slow although this is not a drag car and at 4200 lbs that's not horrible but there is time to be made up there for a quicker ET.

I'm gonna remember you've got that!! ;)
certainly anything you need let me know.

Do you know if your tires are the stock size, I believe the r spec has 245/45/19

I have stock size of 235/50/18, and have run 255/45/18 and still get burnouts I have been thinking if I go to 19's 275/40 or 285/35 might get a better hook up.

Throw some drag radials on there and you'll be in the low 13's, high 12's.

With my OEM 235's my 4.6 would light them up without issue with ESC fully disabled. I haven't tried this with my 285's yet.

with my stock 235/50/18s my 4.6 will burn both tires with just the esc button pushed, will do donuts with the traction control "LSD" keeping one tire from burning up.

With the 255's it also will. Turn esc fully off and it will put smoke clouds out so damn thick you cant see.

I don't mind a little tire spin but as they say spinning isn't winning.

That does look like a good tool, but it does not read or reset ABS or Airbag codes so after driving with esc fuse out he will need one that can do that.

I posted it a few posts up ^ however I do not know if it works on 2014's, I know it does with 09 through 2013.

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=14706

This just basically tells you how to set up a remote operated switch so you do not need to physically go and remove the fuse, walk back to the drivers door and press the button then go back and put the fuse back in.

I found the thread that tells how the esc mod was born
http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5828

And this one shows the remove fuse method.
http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2367

Ok. Yes this is still technically the fuse pull. Just a remote way of doing it. It will still register as a fuse fault in your cpu

No, when you pull the fuse, wait for the 7-10 seconds then push the esc button on the dash then put the fuse back in all the lights on the dash go back to normal with the exception of the esc and on the 11-13's the epb and autohold.

at that point all nanny traction control is off but it never sets a fault code, at least one member has done this and verified with his dealership that no codes were set, I have checked with my scan tool that can read the abs and airbag modules ( I tested by pulling fuse and driving) I was able to read and clear that fault code but after doing the pull/push/replace method no codes were stored.

I have also had my car in to my dealership after doing this and they have never indicated to me any fault codes were stored, though I am also not sure if they would check those for the reasons I have brought my car in.

It does because Ii used this (and other tools) to clear all sort of error codes including engine, O2 sensor (which I suspect what his error is), TPMS , cylinder misfire and few other errors...

But what do I know... I only being mucking around with Genesis ECU for about 6 years or so; ;)

I don't doubt you, or what you have looked into/done I also don't doubt you could be correct he may have ecu fault code for O2, misfire or other errors,
I am saying besides those he WILL have an error in the abs computer related to pulling the fuse and driving the car, the dealership will be able to see that when they do a scan, the scan tool I bought also will be able to see it and reset it so the dealer will not see it.:):p

Oh and just so we are clear david I respect you very much I followed your instructions on the remote ecu disable and other things here, following posts and threads by you and the other pioneers in these cars has allowed me to do some great things that otherwise would have cost me an arm and a leg to afford if at all. I remember what I read very well and I try not to post misinformation (if I can help it) This scan tool I bought for the explicit reason it can do abs/airbag codes I tested it out on my car by intentionally setting a few fault codes.

Oh and PS I am very happy you posted that info on the obd2 bluetooth reader and the android app, the particular one you linked to on amazon is out of stock with no known date of return but I found one just like it even cheaper, $5.61 +free shipping that I hope will do the same things. I think I need to look at more of your posts you make lol

It likely wont clear codes in other systems like the ABS module. I used an OBD2 module for years with the Torque app on my phone and with commercial quality PC software and they couldn't clear ABS codes like the dealer could.

Understood and I am always willing to learn guys...
But in the six years (in olden days before I built the remote for the 4.6) I I just never had an ABS fault because pulling the ESC fuse, even for extended period of time!

Don't think that's true. I ordered one of these yesterday and it shipped today (getting it tomorrow). Looking at the product page right now, it is in stock.

when I posted, it was true, but seems they came back into stock.

lol

Dumb question, maybe, but why not just use the ESC button to disable it???

It seems to allow a very smoky burnout if you brake torque a bit when turned off. :D

What isn't turned off??
