  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can 2015 Genesis be had with the panoramic sunroof without the full signature package?

Friend said there's one on a lot the next town over that's outfitted that way but when I called and asked the dealer if it had he signature package they sounded confused at first, put me on hold, then came back and said no signature package.

I couldn't really tell from the pictures if there were things like the rear sunshade or if it had HID's

Thanks for reading

Go to the Hyundai website to see features for each trim level. Only the base trim lacks the panoramic sunroof. The Signature Package and trim levels above that (Tech and Ultimate) have the panoramic sunroof. If you ask the salesman if he has a signature package, and he only has Base, Tech, Or Ultimate, then he will tell you he doesn't have a Signature Package in stock.

So, if I see a 2015 Genesis with a panoramic sunroof, it will automatically have the full signature package?

You can't get the base model with just the sunroof added on by itself?

Sometimes dealers will enter descriptions that don't seem complete and the one way to easily identify signature package is by the sunroof in the pictures. None of the other signature upgrades are readily identify in pictures.

Thanks

I don't think you understand how the Packages work. I don't know what a "full" signature package is. These are the trim levels:

  • Base
  • Signature Package
  • Tech Package
  • Ultimate Package
Each of the above packages has all the features of the lower package before it, but with more stuff. All Packages have the sunroof except the Base Trim.

No, you cannot get the sunroof with the Base model, as all factory features are bundled into one of the packages (unless dealer installed like wheel locks, floor mats, etc).

The only exception is for fleet orders, as in the past some rental car companies have ordered a bunch of Genesis cars that were Base Trim models but with a Sunroof. You can find these for sale on the used market, but not at a dealer.

To specify further, past what Mark posted....

Each package in the pic below - going left to right - also has what is in the column(s) to the left.

you bring up a pet peeve of mine. i wish ALL automakers would make the sunroof a stand alone option. gm and ford have gone this route, and i wish the asian makers would too. i generally loathe sunroofs in cars because it gets too tight on headroom for my odd...more torso than leg body! :D

Thanks all.

Mark 888 - I definitely understood the step up package structure.

The second part of your comment is what I think is what I was looking for. I've seen several used Genesis for sale that appear to have the sunroof but no other signature options.

Dealer will list, for instance, 7 speakers when the signature has 14.

I wasn't aware of the fleet exceptions to the rule.

Thanks so much for clearing it up.

If you are looking for new cars on a dealer lot, I don't think you will find any fleet cars, as those are usually only sold as used after the rental companies have used them for a couple of years.

So for a new 2015 Genesis, if it has a sunroof, it must be Signature Package or above. I would not put too much faith in what salespeople tell you on the phone, or what you see on a website, since it may not be accurate (especially the pics). As I mentioned previously, if you are only looking at a website, you should be able match the car description with the MSRP to see if they messed up the photo or the description.

Since you mentioned used cars, note that from 2009-2014 V6 there was only Base Trim, Premium Package, and Tech Package (no Signature, and no Ultimate).

If anyone is still reading this thread, I would really appreciate some feedback

I found a Genesis I am interested in

2015 Hyundai Genesis
7000 mi
3.8 RWD
Signature Package
Price: $35,900
On a Hyundailot

Any thoughts on this pricing? Not many comps in my area to look at.

The car is not currently CPO but when it was previously listed it was CPO
Under what circumstances does a car go from CPO to non?
Can any certified dealer make it a CPO? If so, how much should I expect to pay extra?

Thank you all.

I think $35,900 is way too much to pay. A new 2015 can be purchased for about $4-$5K below MSRP (you can price it on Hyundai website). But many times that is just advertised price for a used car, and all prices are negotiable. Find a website that lists used car prices (wholesale and retail).

A dealer has to pay Hyundai a fee to make a car CPO, since it extends the drivetrain warranty to 10 years - 100K miles (normally only available to original purchaser). From what I have seen, you have to pay about $1,000 extra for CPO designation, but that varies. They are supposed to inspect the car also, but I would not put a lot of value in that.

But you can get an official Hyundai Platinum extended warranty to do the same thing (and extends warranty on everything to 10 years - 100K miles) for $1500 or less (but you have to shop around for this extended warranty). Search this forum for the best dealers to get an extended warranty from on the phone (any Hyundai dealer can sell them).

Thanks Mark. You've been very helpful.

I had thought that maybe the signature package was what had the price as high as it is.

Again, thanks for he help!

It would probably help if you visited the Hyundai webpage, and build/price out the various packages so you know what the list price is. Sites like Edmunds, etc will price a used car based on depreciation, etc. You should be getting a very big discount for a used Hyundai Genesis, even with only 7,000 miles.

While I agree with you in principle, from a manufacturing standpoint it becomes daunting and ultimately doesn't serve consumers. What they did makes sense. Consider the Genesis:

There are 9 trim levels (4 for 3.8 RWD, 3 for AWD, 2 for V8).
There are roughly 22 different color combinations (ext/int).

That makes for 198 different cars that need to be built. Adding a major option like a pano roof doubles that to 396 different cars. Given the low volume of sales/production of the Genesis, more consumers would either have to take a car without a roof to make it even remotely viable to build a car without a roof. The roof is considered a luxury item and I think "most" people spending this kind of money would prefer to have it.

Consider the Genesis:

There are 9 trim levels (4 for 3.8 RWD, 3 for AWD, 2 for V8).

Wow. In Canada it only comes in AWD and there are only 4 total trims:

3.8L Premium
3.8L Luxury
3.8L Tech
5L Ultimate

Made my decision easy...5L Ultimate!

I agree that folks shouldn't be forced to buy a sunroof to get the higher option packages. By the way, the headroom in the Gen 1 Genesis is very generous in sunroof-equipped cars and much better than most.

I'm with you on your "pet peeve". I wish you could get a Genesis with the Signature package without the Pano Roof. I think it takes away from the body integrity allowing for more problems with rattles as the car ages.:(

i was under this impression as well, but i just recently had the chance to experience a pano roof and i must say its a must have.

the signature package is a must for the pano roof and hid lights. the lane change assist is useless, the lexicon system is useless as well. IMO the base 7 speaker system sounds better.

I certainly don't find the lane change assist to be useless. I was on the interstate last week about to change lanes from left to mid. Looked in my mirror, looked over the right shoulder and saw nothing. I hit my blinker and got the loud obnoxious "someone is there" alarm. Sure enough there was guy on a motorcycle sitting dead in my blind spot.

...the lane change assist is useless...

I find it very helpful and has saved a few close calls. Will not get another car without it after this.
