How do you remove the stock subwoofer on 2013 Sedan? Bottom mounted I hope.

Do you have to remove rear seat to get to the deck or is it bottom mounted?

Would like sound to get in the cabin without having to have pass-thru open.

Also my bass starts reducing/attenuating around 23-29 depending on the music. Cant get cranked with good balance. Thought of trying to disconnect to see if the stock amp being driven is telling the system to kick in the protection by lowering the bass.

Have a couple subs I am testing. All sealed with angled backs so I keep as much trunk space as possible.

8" Sundown SD-2 in a .4 cu ft = Amazing for its size. DEEEEEP.

10" Infinity Kappa perfect VQ in a .54 cu ft = does everything as above, just louder and more efficient.

12" Jbl GTO in a .85 = don't know yet. Not installed. kida big but I can still cram I under the shelf.

Two subs will be on ebay when I decide which one to keep. They all fit on shelf area of trunk uo against seat.

Powered buy JBL 500 watt. Greatest thing on this amp is the WIRELESS REMOTE - no need to run any wires to front. Works off RF signals. nice!

Pretty sure the rear deck and seat have to come out. That being said, I don't THINK its too terribly hard to do. My rear sunshade rattles like a mo-fo when its down, and I'm also wanting to add a sub to it like you are wanting to do.

Mine rattled like crazy also and it was irritating, I bought Dyna-Mat from Amazon who had it for a decent price and took it into Best Buy to have the installation done.....I figured if they screw anything up it's their problem lol. They removed the back seat and put the matting all behind the seats and on the back deck. This drastically reduced the vibration off the screen and eliminated it in some cases.....not 100% perfect but helps a lot, but if your upgrading the sub etc. it may not help at all. They charged $120 for the install which was good with me as I didn't wanna mess with anything around the rear airbags.

Did you ever remove the sub from the deck? Did that help with the overall SQ and SPL?

Also I'm assuming that the line everyone is tapping into is EQ'd for the sub that is installed in the system. It is likely rolling off below 40hz (my guess) as well as attenuating as the levels increase to keep the sub from bottoming out.


Anyway, just brain storming before I do my install. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't think that the sub line out in the RSpec is dropping off below 40hz. I only say that from experience. I have a frequency emulator on my phone and can get a good vibration and sound levels at 21.7hz.

And I have a 12" memphis audio sub in a 1inch thick mdf ported box with a 600w kenwood monoblock amp. when I turn my volume over 20 I have all 3 rear view mirrors vibrating.

Sorry to be so direct with this question, but...Has anybody ever removed the rear stock subwoofer? If so, can you post pictures, or a description of the steps involved. I bought my 2014 R-Spec over 1 year ago and someone asked the same question back the. He got input, but nobody helped him understand how to do it. So if someone has actually removed the subwoofer, or even helped with the process please chime in.

I've been curious about it for over a year myself. Your answer will determine whether I do it myself or install the subwoofer system myself.
