  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. My wife drives a 2012 Genesis and her windshield wipers are stuck in the down position. Last week they started acting goofy and got stuck in the up position. After fiddling with the control for a while, we were able to get them back down...about a half inch at a time, and they would stick again. Kind of bounce on the glass and then stop. Now that they are down, they don't work at all...and she had to make an hour long commute today in the rain with no wipers...at least she has a coat of Rain-X.

Has anyone else had this problem? She is the second owner and JUST past 60k miles. The dealer refuses to cover anything under warranty. I've never worked on wipers before. I don't know if its the wiper motor or transmission...or anything else. Please help. I can't have my wife driving without wipers.

Similar problem then they just died rapidly. I had to replace my wiper motor and transmission at 135,000 miles.

I replaced my right away, for safety issues...out of warranty about $750 CDN

I'll bet the transmission wasn't $750.....

Similar issue happened to my 2012 when I owned it. Wiper motor had to be replaced. Luckily mine was under warranty.

Yet another good reason to buy a good extended warranty.

I had a similar problem last week with my 2012 Genesis sedan Technology model (155000kms). The local Hyundai dealer checked it out & said the wiper transmission needed to be replaced (about $750 CAN, parts, labour & taxes). I said I would do the job myself. I will provide an update after the job is done.
