2009 4.6, Normal Idle RPM?

Perhaps I'm being paranoid but... I'm wondering if my Genny is idling at too low a RPM. I would have sworn it's normally 1000 RPM, but today it seems to have dropped to only 500-550.

The reason I'm concerned is that I've had two previous fuel pumps die on me without warning (once in traffic) and I'm worried that this might be a warning sign that it's going to happen again.

For the record, I did call my local service shop to see if they could check the specs for what it should be, but no dice.

Could a fellow 4.6 driver confirm their idle RPM for me, please?

I can't confirm now but I can tell you it won't be 1000. I've owned a good number of cars over the years and they all (from V8 to V6/I6 to i4) idled around roughly 700-850 RPM when warmed up. You might see 1000 on a cold start but it shouldn't stay there when the car is up to temperature.

For the last seven years my 4.6 idles when warm at 650 rpm.
The R-spec is at 550 rpm.

My 5.0 is at 750rpm on cold start and then it drop to 500rpm when warmed up.

1500 on cold start going down to 1000 just after the start then idles at around 700 when completely warm
