  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 3.8. Apparently I left the trunk ajar and it ran down the battery.

I thought these cars had battery run down protection?

What is battery run down protection? Do you have a link that explains what it is?

This feature is discussed in the Genesis Coupe.com forum.

Actually, what is meant is that the many lights on the car will auto shut-off after various periods of time when left on.

I don't know if the trunk light shuts off automatically, but it would be a mystery to me how one small light bulb (or led) could deplete that huge battery unless it were on for many days. There was another post to that effect by Amartz, though:

Yeah, it probably was a couple of days. I must have pushed the trunk button in my pocket long enough to open it, and didn't realize it. The battery wasn't *completely* run down, but it was done enough that the starter couldn't kick the engine over. It tried, but couldn't do it. 5 minutes with a Black & Decker charger fixed that though, fortunately. By the time I got to work, all was better. And I now check the trunk lid more often!!
