How to silence the "tune" that plays when ignition is turned off

I just bought a pre-owned 2012 Genesis. (I previously had a 2011 and was in a wreck, it was totaled). I love this car, but not the little tune that plays when you push the ignition button to turn off ignition. Is there a way to silence this? Thanks for any help!

On my car - you page to the settings menu using the tiny little controls on the right side of the steering wheel. You can toggle thru six pages of option categories using a push button, as I recall. Pick the appropriate page for settings - then scroll down thru the various settings using the little scroll wheel. Change what you want. Have fun.

One of the first things I turned off.
 
Its in the manual somewhere.
 
Ok - I went out and looked around the dash, steering wheel and console. I'm not sure which controls you are talking about to the right of the steering wheel? Are you talking about the Driver Information system with the Navigation, Radio, XM, etc down on the console? Or maybe there are some other control buttons I'm not familiar with..
I'm not seeing any buttons on the right of the steering wheel itself. Looking in the Driver information system manual but not finding anything about a ignition on/off "tune" setting. I've looked all over both manuals but not finding anything...Thanks for any other info on this!

Your car is obviously different from the 2015 - the center "nav" screen above the console is for all the "fluff" - radio, nav, phone, etc.

On the 2015, the substantive control functions - warning systems, tire pressure, lights, etc are displayed in the panel behind the steering wheel and controlled by tiny little controls on the wheel.

Sorry - no help here - but as an aside, the manual for my car was worthless - It said to go to the "settings menu", and that was it - no help at all.
 
You're comparing a Gen2 with a Gen1. The electronics are quite different.
 
I can't find anything on this in the owner's manual. When I get home I'll check the DIS manual. I wouldn't mind finding out myself.

It's called "welcome sound" and I was able to turn it off by holding the DISP button on the steering wheel for a few seconds. This activates the menu, which appears in the center of the instrument cluster (where the "cartoon" Genny shows up when the tune plays). From there, you can toggle it on/off and use the TRIP button to save the setting.

I found this Hyundai "commercial" cheesy and annoying. I couldn't find a way to get rid of the graphics; only the tune. But, getting rid of the sound was enough for me.

Here's a post that looks promising. I read later that the car has to be in accessory mode.
 
Now, if we could only get rid of that goofy "safety" screen on the AV display.

It's distracting, and like a lot of safety features, is actually dangerous for that reason.
 
I disabled the tune on my car following those instructions (over a year ago). I forgot how to do it (till now), but it does work.

The one you dismiss before setting off that never reappears in motion? How is it "dangerous"? Annoying; sure.

I find it harder to make up lyrics with the tune disabled. It has become a game to make up songs.

The tune started driving me nuts! After shutting off my car I'd always find myself humming that old 80's tune, "I'm only Human".

I said the "warning" was distracting.

You said it was "annoying".

That's two reasons why it's dangerous. Especially, when you're starting up and "setting off" in reverse out of a driveway, as I do every day.
 
The warning that disappears when you select "R"? That one?

How is it "distracting"? How is "annoying" "dangerous", since you like to be quote-y?

These things are on everything out there these days. I'm surprised It doesn't make you sign your signature with an electronic pen every time you start it. Doesn't bug me that much though. It's in my muscle memory now.

The stupidity guards are certainly omnipresent. The single click on the wheel before moving the gear selector is hardly a chore, though.

What I really can't stand is having to close the door. It's dangerous, and my fingers could get caught! :D
