  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Blind spot Detection

Sorry srobak, been there and done that. I have had it to two dealers in different states and neitherf could find a problem. I even went on at test drive with one of the techs, you guessed it, tech could not get it to repeat even though he tried on tree lined road etc.

Call Genesis Customer Care and elevate - they can't ignore your video evidence that your car has a problem. I did this for my sunroof rattle and got action!

Is there a dedicated Genesis customer care number/email? I see they have a form on their site for Equus specifically, but not Genesis.

Yes - call that number - it's actually for both.

Not ready to bring it up again with Hyundai, I'm done fighting for the time being. But just to provide another voice, I too have BSD false detection issues and my dealer won't do anything. I even have a section of road where it happens very reliably. The dealer did escalate to the Hyundai field rep, who quoted some bullsh*t in the manual which basically frees them from it working properly.

If you're interested, sections 5-83 and 5-84, the former of which states "The system may not operate properly due to other factors or circumstances." Get out of jail card, anyone?

Look, I understand it's technology that is trying to interpret the real world and sometimes there are going to be problems. But either my system and C-130Geek's are broken or Hyundai did a poor job with the logic. Personally I think my driver's side sensor is off since I never have a problem with the passenger side; then again, the driver's side encounters things the passenger side might not.

Might as well not have had it, I can't trust it at all so I always leave it off.

I wonder of you could simply swap the passenger side one with the drivers side one to see if the issue transfers to the opposite side of the car. Worth checking into and would prove that you have a faulty sensor.

I have had the warning pop up several times on the dashboard saying BSD Cancelled normally on the highway after about an hour of driving at 120 km per hour. It stays on till you turn the car off. Turning the BSD system off does not change the message.

The dealer could not replicate the issue and made no effort to resolve the issue.

Next time this happens, safely take a video and then show it to your dealer. Maybe that would get them off there azz :D

...sure sounds frustrating......
My only issue is when I'm making a left turn where two lanes can turn....since my blinker is on and Iif there's another car also making a turn on my left, the alarm will sound and it makes me jump!...but it's doing what it's designed to do.

I have noticed the same thing and have gotten use to it. You can turn off the audible beep if need be but I would rather have it beep at me.

The problem that I am having is that my BSD light will stay on sometimes on the driver side. I have taken it to the dealer several times and have even taken pictures where I am in the far left lane, so no traffic possible and the BSD is on. The dealer said that they can't fix it unless THEY SEE IT. I asked them to pretend that they saw it, then what would they do?? No response.

You can swap sensors from one side to the other to see if it moves the issue to the passenger side. If so, you know it is a bad sensor.

Thanks for the advice. I love the car, I hate the dealer service. In fairness though, they all say it's Hyundai, not them. They will not succeed with Genesis if they keep this "we sell cheap cars" mentality.

I just took delivery on my 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD with Ultimate Package and LOVE it. I'm new to Blind Spot Detection as my 2007 Infiniti M35x didn't have it yet. I've had the car a little over a week now and still getting used to all of the features. I have noticed however on interstate driving the BSD may not work 100% of the time even in clear weather. My first impressions on it are that it depends on the vehicle in the lane next to you. I've passed semi trailers and it didn't go off, yet when passing another it goes on. I think it also depends on the color of the vehicle you're passing. As I said, I'm new to the car and the feature and do only look at it as a driver aid and definitely not a replacement to mirror checks and looking before making the lane change.
