  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

With the nice weather starting I'm not turning the AC off but I feel like it starts running again after a few minutes. I feel air coming out of the vent and it stops again when I press off. I do not see the notification that smart ventilation is cutting during this time so I don't think it that. any ideas?

Same with mine.
A/C button is off or at least the blue light is not showing.
Set the temp to 20C (Canada) and it feels like the A/C is on cold, I'm I doing something wrong.
2012 Tech, 47800 K on the car

Bigd, 20 C is 68 Fahrenheit. If the outside temp is higher, of course the AC will come on. Read the manual. The blue light doesn't always turn on when the AC is running.

Reddog, I don't comprehend your post.

I press the off button on the AC and it feels like it turns on by itself 5 min later and when I press off again it cuts off again but then the same thing happens.

I know the car has smart ventilation to monitor co2 levels but there is a light that comes on when this function cuts on. when the above above scenario happens I do not see that the smart ventilation is running but there is still cold air blowing out the vent even though I turned it off 5 minutes ago

If you turn the temperature down below the current temp *after* turning the AC off, the car takes that as a clue to turn the AC back on.

Do you have "auto" enabled? Usually, this is what drives people bananas.

The operation of the "auto" n Manual AC operation is explained in the manual for my 2011 Genesis is explained on page 4-94'
Air conditioning
Push the A/C button to manually turn the
air conditioning system on (indicator light
will illuminate).
Push the button again to turn the air conditioning
system off.
NOTICE
When AUTO mode and the desired temperature
has been selected, the Full
Automatic Temperature Control
(FATC) will select the A/C operation
automatically in the background. The
A/C button is not illuminated at all
times during AUTO mode operation.

I know this works on my Genesis n I think it maybe the same for urs. Once I have shutdown the AC the fan controls take over n beings in outside air.

Isn't "auto" an on-off switch itself? Press it so it is not lit....

The "auto" button is an "on" button but not an "on-off" button - in other words, it doesn't "toggle". See. pp. 3-133,134 of the manual.

It works the same way on my Sonata - when you turn auto on, the computer takes over. That's when the fun begins - reference the above posts.

And, turning "auto" off is a whole different ball game. See the manual.

So i tried pressing auto on and off and AC on and off and there is still cold air blowing after a few minutes

If you've got the cabin temperature set lower than outside, it will turn the AC back on, even if you've pushed the A/C button to turn it off. It's "smart" that way.

It sounds like "auto" is still on - turn it off as per your manual instructions.
The "auto" button only turns auto on as I previously noted (never off).

Once you successfully disable auto, leave it that way. You will have a nice dumb A/C which does what you want, when you want.

If you hit the A/C button, you've just turned the auto function off. But if you turn the A/C off with the A/C button, and then turn the temperature down, that will turn the A/C back on, even if the A/C button is not lit.

I drive the V8 2G as per header, and my manual at p. 3-134 says to turn auto off, you do one of the following:

1. push the mode selection button

2. push the front defrost button

3. push a fan speed button

different cars may be different.

If I push the A/C button and turn the temperature down - of course it comes on because it has been told to (by me). I have used it thru a very long hot summer with no glitches -manual mode, of course.

I am going on a long trip in the morning and will do more research in the name of science. However, problems caused by "auto mode" go way back. I bought two Sonata '06 LX's in '05 with that feature and it drove people nuts.

Auto in both my Azera and G2 have worked perfectly, as did it in the Accord and 7 series. YES - sometimes it will blow *cool* air - because it is trying to keep the cabin at the temp you set as well as supply you with fresh air. Remember - you exhaust hot air from your mouth - and transfer it from your skin. Even on the coldest days - the heat will eventually back down when ambient room temp reaches what you have set it to. In "auto" no system will ever "turn off"..... it is doing a constant task of maintaining the temp in the cabin & supplying the fresh air I mentioned earlier. If you have the sun on one side - that does warm the car and the car will try to compensate for that - possibly with slightly cooler air than what is inside now. Just point the dash vents up & away from your face and let it do it's thing. Usually works just fine.

One exception I have found on both of my Hyundais is during particularly cold days & the toes. I often set for defrost & feet and once the windshield is clear I set only at feet & run at 74 degrees on 2nd fan speed setting. Keeps my toes warm & the rest of the cabin air cool enough so I don't feel like I am melting. Had the exact same situation on my Azera.

OK, so I have the same problem. Can someone tell me how to make my car (2015 model) just blow ventilated air from the outside without turning on the AC? I've had the car for 6 months and have no idea how to accomplish this.

You'd probably have to match the requested inside cabin temperature with the outside temperature. Or, just turn the whole thing off, roll down the windows and open the sunroof. My favorite way to drive when the weather is nice!

From the auto position (Auto button lit)

1. Hit the AC button. This will turn off auto, and turn on the AC manually.
2. Hit the AC button a second time. This will turn off the AC manually. The fan speed can be controlled with the buttons if you want. In this state, both Auto and AC lights are off.

I have not had the AC turn back on by itself when I have followed the above steps.

Basically - you turn auto off and leave it off

I posted a how-to, above, for the 2G V8.
