  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone recently purchased a CPO Wrap protection plan for their 2015 Genesis 3.8? Win Hyundai Carson of Southern California tried to sell me the Platinum package 10 years, 100,000 miles with $0 deductible for $2,700. I know others in this forum have paid as low as $1,150 for their protection plan at out of state dealerships such as Jim Ellis Hyundai (Georgia). I have the Tech package on my vehicle and I'm concerned about my navigation, audio & high tech equipment failing after my 3 years of standard warranty coverage. I've requested quotes from various dealerships including Jim Ellis Hyundai and I'm standing by to compare prices. Will update this thread as more information comes my way. Thanks!

Definitely let us know what you find. I got my CPO a week ago, I bought it over the phone and by mail and I never was offered any sort of additional warranty. I'm curious to see what it costs and whether I'd be able to buy it.

Platinum Wrapped mine for 1200 a month ago. I talked them down from 1800 because they didn't give me what I wanted on my trade. This let us split the difference - so I was happy.

CPO is Certified Pre-Owned designaiton, and only extends the warranty of used cars for the drivetrain (engine and transmission) to 10 years - 100K miles (which is otherwise only available to the original purchaser of the vehicle). It does not extend the warranty on any other components past the 5 year - 60K mile period.

What it appears you are talking about is the Hyundai Platinum Extended Warranty, which covers everything to 10 years - 100K miles. $2700 is way too much.

Did you purchase your 2015 used or new?

Used, CPO in pristine condition with 220 miles in the odometer. Still has new car smell and all. Previous owner purchased it for his wife as a surprise. She wanted a Mercedes Benz instead and made him return it. They had it for a month. It was a great deal at $38,691. Same model new would have cost me $46,635.

You don't have to justify or be ashamed about buying a pre-owned car.

I have not seen the CPO wrap-around warranty product ever discussed in this forum before, only the regular Hyundai Extended Platinum Warranty. But I guess it is basically the same thing.

They have a special word for this woman... and it rhymes with the thing you flip to turn the lights on in the house.

Un. Freakin. Believable.

Oh the horror of having it drive a Hyundai!

:D

First congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the club. :D

As far as the previous owner, if it was me, and I would have replaced the trunk emblem and said here is your new car dear!
What are you saying? This is a Hyundai and you want a Mercedes-Benz?
I see, no problem, when you go out to work and save 'our' money, you are more than welcome to get a new Mercedes.

Honestly, When I hear stories like that I cring and feel so blessed with my choices in life.
As an example, when it came to replacing the Mrs car early last year, we looked at a CLA, C, ES350, Q50 among others, but then she said, why don't you give me your car and you get anything you want. And I could have, but decided to stay within budget, not to mention I liked the shape and the extra power of G1 better than the G2.
Best of all she loves her car, especially now after the wheel upgrades. (the wheel flaking was the only complaint she had about her car).

I am wary of these dealer sales stories on how the used car got to their lot. I think their is a little slipperyness when these cars are described to enhance the cars pedigree. Whenever I bought a used car, I would find the previous owners name (ex. in glovebox, on paperwork) and try and contact them for the actual history on the car.

Right, most of these low miles car returns happen when financing falls through. They let you take the car home and then about 7-10 days later if the dealer can't package the finance deal to anyone they call and you have to return the car. I have friends in the DMV business and this happens all the time. Dealers hold paperwork until the financing is final, then they submit the complete deal to DMV.

At the end of the day it won't matter a few hundred miles is still effectively a new car.

Agreed. Mine with 120 miles was evidently a similar situation.

Hi,
I also purchased a CPO 5.0 Ultimate last week. The dealership I got it from (Jim Ellis, Atlanta) was initially offered me the Platinum Warranty for $2800. I did try other dealerships ( mentioned by other members who got it for significantly lesser cost) but could not get it any cheaper. So, I negotiated the warranty price and got it for $1595.
Hope that helps !

I'm a cop. I ran the VIN and previous owner before I purchased. Everything checked out.
