  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sorry if this was already covered, but my searching did not come up with an answer.

What exactly changes when going to "Power Mode"? I know that the RPM goes higher prior to shifting, but are there any other changes? I called Hyundai support, but they were only able to read from the manual- not very helpful.

Thanks

Eco will shift to a higher gear sooner and will try to stay there as long as possible. Sport will stay in lower gears longer and only go to 8th on the highway (if even - I don't use sport for highway cruising). Sport also tightens up the steering feel (Eco and normal don't affect steering as far as I can tell). Sport drops your mpg significantly, especially if you are aggressive on the throttle. Normal is a good compromise - but, with gas so cheap, I admit I do use Sport more often these days (though still use Normal most of the time and Eco on the highway once up to cruising speed)..

Exactly what I needed to know.

Thanks

I don't have a Genesis yet, but the most interesting mode to me is "snow" (supposedly engaged if you hold down the selector button for a few secs). Does it start out in 2nd gear? Does it ease up the traction control so you can spin the wheels some to get going? What else does it do? The owner's manual says very little about it.

Last year I had a chance to use snow mode in 6"+ of wet heavy snow in NC and I will say I was impressed. It starts out in a higher gear (2nd maybe 3rd) and also limits throttle response. Basically it just dulls everything. Not sure about traction control. That you can turn off manually on the dash. This was with the Hankooks.

As for dry weather, it is useless and dangerous in my opinion.

Interesting, I had heard of this mode but assumed it was for rear wheel drive only or something. Sure enough, held down the button and there it was... silly me... :o

he must be lying then...

1/3 of NC is mountains, and even in Raleigh we often get several inches of wet snow a couple times a year.

Of course it is not typical but I can assure you it was a hard and heavy snow storm last winter. Between Greensboro and Winston Salem. A ton of fun.

As for snow mode on the car, I mistakenly enabled it a few weeks ago and felt like my car was moving in slow-motion until I realized what I'd done.

As for snow in NC, I've definitely seen snow, and not just a dusting and not in the mountains, in North Carolina before. It was usually at least once a year that the Greensboro area got hit.
