  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've noticed that when using the Bluelink remote start function, when I enter the vehicle and shut the door, the wipers make one sweep across the windshield. I can't image that action is normal. Have any other owners experienced this?

Unfortunately, that's normal behavior if you leave the wipers on Auto.

Ha. I noticed that too but where I live there is almost always dew or frost on the windshield in the morning so I never noticed it did it regardless.

Yep it's so stupid, can really mess up the car when ice ice present

Shut off auto in the winter. Or even until they are needed in general.

Have we really become so lazy? :)

I think the point being made is that it is an unnecessary glitch that Hyundai should really have fixed.

Don't think this a Hyundai only "feature" - AUTO mode will kick in when the car is started (as it technically should) and be triggered if conditions (sensor detects water) are present. I always turned AUTO OFF in the winter on all my cars, which this would also happen with upon start-up with a frosted windshield. If it started to mist, I tuned it ON.

The issue has nothing to do with sensing water - If you were to remote start your Genesis in the desert and the wipers are set on Auto, it would still do 1 swipe when you get into the car - it's unnecessary and a defect! That said, it's not a huge deal and I avoid it by leaving my wipers on Off until I need them, but it's one of those annoying attention to detail things that drags the experience down a little.

Not sure I have noticed it does that every time when I have used remote start. will try later.

Hummmm...I've only remote started my car a couple times so far. Both times it was in the garage. I've not noticed the wipers making any swipes after I get in and shut the door. And yes, my wipers are set to auto.

What i wish Hyundai would do away with are the hazards flashing while it's running. hate that!

Just tried it - car outside, bone dry and wiper switch set to Auto! Once I closed the driver's side door, I got the single wiper swipe as expected! This happens every time you use Blue Link remote start if your wipers are set to Auto!

I wonder if it also happens to those with 3rd party remote start systems?

I leave for work just after 4:00 AM and the flashing hazards after remote start practically light up the entire neighborhood. "Hey everyone, my car is running!" It's a bit much.

can't tell if ur serious... having to turn it on every time makes Auto mode not so Auto.

Actually - I'm being completely serious. How often do you need the wipers to run while the car is parked in your driveway idling or not?

Get in the car - set to auto, forget about it until you stop. If it rains - they work. If it doesn't - they don't. Particularly handy on 6 hour long drives. :)

Hell - I still remember when we had to turn on AND off the turn signals! Is this really that much of an inconvenience to press a f'n button? :/

Of course not - but you are missing the point. Why does it swipe the wipers when you close the door after a remote start when left in Auto? What would be the purpose/design intent to have that happen?

If I start the car myself it does not swipe the wipers! It's an obvious glitch that diminishes the value of the Auto setting for many people and Hyundai should fix it (doubt they will unless enough complain about it).

As a premium priced vehicle, it's just one more little ding to the "premium" experience...
