It could very well be the sound of the Fuel Injectors. Many cars exhibit a slight "tapping" sound from the fuel injectors. I had an Acura that did this. It was definitely more pronounced when it was cold out than when it was warm. Sounded a bit like valves tapping, but, the volume was too low to be valves. In any case, you should have your service department verify the sound you are hearing. That is what the warranty is all about.
Don't do it! Lucas products are modern-day snake oil IMO. A good quality oil has all the additives you need. I would recommend switching to synthetic (Castrol Edge, Valvoline SYNPower, or Mobil 1).
ANYONE CONSIDERING LUCAS OIL STABILIZER, PLEASE READ:

Old school is right. That may have worked for Fred Flinstone, but I don't think that works on all modern engines. Besides, everyone says the noise goes away after a few seconds--not enough time for the STP to reach the valves. It's really old-school, but, before going and changing oils, if it truly is valve tapping you are hearing, the easiest test is this:
Add some STP oil Treatment to the oil when you first turn it on, while it is cold and making the sound. If it is lifters are tapping because they are dry, they should quiet up pretty quickly. If the STP does not make a difference, the noise is almost definitely the fuel injectors.
Just a thought and it will only set you back a couple bucks.
Yes, the oil drains into the crankcase either way, but if the oil filter is on top, it also drains out of the oil filter, and if on the bottom it stays in the oil filter. I am not sure how that affects engine start-up (and may not affect every engine the same way), but with an empty oil filter at start-up, it takes longer for the filter to produce oil on output from the filter, even after oil has been input into the filter. Whether that is detrimental is debatable.Where the oil filter is located has no effect on weather the engine is or isn't starved of oil on start-up. The oil also drains into the crankcase on a vehicle with the filter located on the bottom as opposed to the top. Both application remain to get their oil from the crankcase. The oil filter is only design to filter the oil, not store it. Give it some thought and I think you all will agree.
