Canadian Color Options

While I'm very interested in the Genesis, I'm not ready to plop down that much money until all my concerns are met.

I've been to three dealerships in Ottawa and ask them to tell me what material/color is the dash and upper doors for any particular exterior color.

When asked, they don't know and will inform themselves and call me back. I leave my number and .... nothing. No call backs. Wow. A simple question. I can only imagine what kind of after sale service I'll get. Not impressed. Even a email to customer relations to Hyundai Canada did not answer my email adequately (They told me the Platinum came with Black leather interior. Ya I know. I was asking about the trim around the DIS. Still I finally got to see one to confirm my suspicions and it's black leather as well.) The dealers don't carry too many Geny's to begin with so it's kind of hard to know.

In light of this sad story, I though I'd ask you folks. You have Geny's in your possession. Who better to ask.

I'd like to know, specifically for the 4.6 + Tech, what the dash trim material/color is for a given exterior color. I already know the interior color, there's only one choice in Canada for a given exterior color and the brochure clearly indicates what it is.

And I already know that the Platinum Metallic comes with Black leather with Black leather trim since I've seen this model in the show room. I looking for the other exterior colored cars, like Titanium Grey, Black, White, etc, since the dealers don't know and Hyundai Canada is not telling.

So can you fill in the ??? blanks (Canadian models only, US are different):
4.6L Platinum Metallic Black Interior Black/Leather Dash Trim
4.6L Phantom Black Black Interior ???/??? Dash Trim
4.6L Titanium Grey Black Interior ???/??? Dash Trim
4.6L Champagne Beige Saddle Interior ???/??? Dash Trim
4.6L Sapphire Blue Cashmere Interior ???/??? Dash Trim
Etc...

Would be nice to know the same info for the 3.8L models as well. And I have a feeling that it's wood trim in various colors, but what colors? Brown, Cherry, or Dark (Hyundai doesn't say what these color of wood is.)

Why not just go to the Hyundai site and download the Genesis Brochure? It has all of the exterior and interior color combinations.

Sorry dude, none of the brochures I've seen to date tell me what the dash trim color/material is. It DOES tell you what color leather leather seat you'll be getting, but NOT the dash trim.

After getting nowhere from the dealers and Hyundai Canada, I now seek answers from actual owners of the car.

Good luck!!! I think there have been changes to some of the dash trim colors since the introduction (at least here in the states). For example, the Black interiors originally had a saddle leather on the dash, but now the ones I have seen are black.

I'm not sure about the 2010 models, but the 2009 models are detailed in the Brochure #009SA-L1100 which does indicate all the colour combinations. All the V6 3.8 cars come with wood trim instead of leather on the dash and upper door trim. There are three shades/types of wood used varying with exterior/interior colour combinations.

You are right that Canadian cars only come with one specific Exterior & Interior colour combination. For example, you can't have a Cabernet Red car with a Black interior, it is only available in Cashmere/Beige.

Yeah, I have that brochure. It does list the color combos but doesn't say what the dash color/trim is...

Sooooo...what's your dash color/material trim on your Cabernet/Cashmere 3.8L + Tech? Probably wood, but what color? Dark? And is the center console wood the same at the dash wood?

Where it really get's iffy, is the leather on the 4.6L dash trim. It's not always the same as the interior color. That's where I'm really confused.

Please confirm what you got. Thanks to anyone who can clear these color combos up.

You could always call a dealer and tel them what you want. THey will certainly let you know if it is available.

My Genesis has Dark Wood on the Dash, Door Trim and switch panels. The Console is a mix of Dark Wood and Aluminum. The Brochure does indicate which wood goes with which interior colour - Dark wood/Cashmere, Rosewood/Saddle & Burl Walnut/Black - and seems to indicate the Leather combos for the V8 models with the Leather Dash trim - Black, Saddle & Cashmere. I wasn't aware that the leather colour changed for the dash, I thought it was the same as the seats with maybe a slight difference in shade.

I know what you're saying as I ran into the same experience when ordering my Genesis. The bottom line is that the factory keeps changing the leather trim colour. I received my 4.6 /tech package in titanium grey in January in Toronto. The dash is black leather. It looks great although I was sort of hoping for the saddle brown trim. In the end I'm still delighted with the car and its amazing value for performance and comfort.

In the end I'm still delighted with the car and its amazing value for performance and comfort.

Gee, I'm worried now. You just confirmed that the Titanium Grey has black leather also. I was hoping for saddle brown too as the Platinum Metallic is also black. I would prefer saddle brown on that one as well. I'm not a big fan of black leather dash on black leather interior. That makes 3 4.6L that have black interior with black dash trim. This is not going well for me.

I think I'll have to specify it in the buying contract what dash trim colour I want and wait for them to find/make one. Call me picky, but at that price, I want what I want. Last thing I want is a surprise, oh it's black when I thought is was saddle brown. I'm gonna be looking at it for a, hopefull, very long time.

And Hyundai, if your reading this, feel free to provide any information that can clear this up. Thanks.

I don't know about Canada, but in the US the 4.6L Black interior originally came with a saddle brown leather dash on early model cars, but HMA changed that to black leather dash after getting some negative feedback from prospective customers. So now in US, all black interiors come with black leather dash. I believe that the change happened at least several months ago, but there may be some old inventory around.

If you check the serial number on the ones with saddle dash, I bet they will be earlier than the ones with all black interior (except for woodtrim pieces).
