  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G90 to Get Twin Turbo

According to the article linked below the G90 is to get a twin turbo V6

That link you provided says the following:

"That also confirms that the new Hyundai Genesis G90 will come with all-wheel drive and that the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine won’t replace the 5.0-liter V8, but rather it will be sold alongside the current engine. Expect the V8 engine to get some tweaks considering the twin-turbo V6 will likely have similar performance."

I am really hoping with the N performance line coming that the potential for tuning on this platform will take off. that being said it will only happen if there is a market for the parts and that may take a great deal of time to develop as Hyundai makes a name for itself in the performance game.

What kind of power we looking at from a tuned TAU V8?

no one knows. Hyundai is notorious for making their ECUs difficult to crack into. Maybe with more potential for tuning with these platforms there will be more of an effort to tune the TTv6 and tau. time will tell.

I don't understand the entire motivation for having two different powerplants if they're already understood to have similar performance.

Is it strictly because of the tuning aspect? Maybe I'm out of the loop here, which is probably the case....haha

simply customer preference.

I am sure the TTv6 will be more fuel efficient as well.

It's a matter of US Government CAFE standards that require auto manufacturers to continually raise their fleet average MPG.

Also, keep in mind that the TT V6 will be lighter than the V8.

Maybe us 5.0 owners will figure out what those tweaks are.

why dont they do a high performance( and fully equipped ) version with a twin turbo V8...along with a handling package?
maybe add $20-25K to the price
but would raise the view of Hyundai to the marketplace

Lexus massages out another 47 hp from their 5.0 V8, so I would imagine that if Hyundai intends to keep the V8, we'll see similar tweaks.

This is an ironic thread. Last I recall reading here, nobody can even find a '16 5.0 anywhere to buy.

good point..Lexus has a naturally aspirated 5.0 that's good for 467hp with a 7300rpm redline
