  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I think its going to be a while before you see this.

Those CTS-V coupes are no Joke

Hyundai has no factory racing team, without it we will never see a car from them that could hold a candle to any of the Vs.

It's why our "sport sedans" don't really have much of that "sport" thing going on.

I would do just terrible things to get my hands on a CTS-V wagon!!

Actually, Hyundai does have a Motorsport arm - which is focused on WRC.

And they did hire the former head of BMW's M-division.

But that's not the reason why the Genesis (if and when Hyundai develops a performance variant) won't be able to beat the CTS-V.

The problem for the Genesis is size and weight (with the Genesis, Hyundai was going more after luxo-cruiser a la E Class than the CTS or earlier 5 Series models).

In terms of sport/handling - the upcoming Kia GT will have a better chance (but being based on the Genesis bones, will still be handicapped).

Both the Optima and Koup won their respective classes in the Pirelli World Challenge last year (the Optima beating entries from Porsche and Aston).

Hyundai and Kia have top-notch chassis engineering talent in their Australian divisions - but unfortunately, we get the dumbed-down US-tuned versions.

Anyway - forget the CTS-V (not that I would turn one down).

There's an even more powerful performance version of the CTS in the works - which should be totally wicked.

When I was car shopping - I favored the Cadillacs. - used to have a Coupe De Ville.

And I love V8's.

But my Genny 5.0 is OK - maybe a Caddy next time around

I'm also looking at Jaguar Type F's - that would be a real change.

I would not be surprised to see a Genesis N-Sedan with a ridiculous amount of horsepower ala Dodge Hellcat... Due to weight - it would be a similar experience to the Dodge cars but still attract heaps of attention to the brand.

Watch the new motorweek with the new CTS-V. That car is wicked. Its a 4 door Corvette. I just sold my 2013 XTS (just a std 6 cylinder) and to me hands down the best interior I have ever seen!

I sold my Rspc sedan earlier this year and bought a CTS-V. The two cars are not even in the same class. I miss my Genesis for the interior comfort and refinement. The V is fast, and handles and stops well, but comfort and technology is lagging compared to the Genesis R=Spec I had (2013). I did a 1800 mile road trip in the V to run Tail of the Dragon, and it was uncomfortable to say the least. After the trip, I parked the car in the garage for a few weeks and didn't want to get in and drive it. Compared to the Gumball we did using the Genesis, that was great and its a perfect vehicle for that type of road trip. But the V I can track, and with the minor mods I have done, the car is just a monster on the street. Below is a vid of my V on the track, I kick it up about 1:30 min mark to let the tires and brakes warm up.
I was also invited to Homestead to drive the new 2016 CTS-V on the track. t
The 2016 has the comfort and refinement of the Genesis, but at a 6 figure cost.

So, back to lurking as I am searching for a 2013/2014 CPO R-Spc for a DD and dump the cheap DD I bought.

You are one of the very few I've ever heard say that their V was uncomfortable.
Do you have the base seats or the Recaros?
I had a V-1 for 4 yrs and a V-2 for 6 yrs. Loved them both and was never uncomfortable. My 2015 Genesis is definitely a cushier ride and suits my aging bones (70+yrs), but I still miss the power/handling of the V.
Maybe I'll rethink it after a few of the 3rd generation Vs start showing up on the used car market.

This video makes me start lusting for a V-3. Pretty stout for stock.
V-3 acceleration

Stay tuned guys, that's all I can say at the moment. 600hp would require way too much modification for our existing platform. Now, 450whp(ish) is entirely feasible on stock internals and tranny....or so I've heard ;)

Sinstr, PM me when you get back on. Got something you'll love...
