What do you carry for self defense?

I was starting to worry about road rage as it seems to be quite rampant and gettting worse all the time so I asked a good friend of mine what I needed. He said a 9mm, shells and a few clips. Went out and got this which now resides in my trunk. Did I do well?

good choice on the caliber. the question is which manufacturer? i have a SA XD9mm sub compact in my vehicle. I don't know what good it will do in your trunk. If at any point you need it you will have to stop and open your trunk and take it out, at which point it can be argued that you had the intention to kill or use deadly force. just my thoughts

Then you missed the point of his post - he does not have an actual gun in his trunk. If you need a loaded weapon in your car, you need to move (IMHO).

Yeah, the trunk of a cop car lol. Handguns are restricted in Canada.

hell....and I'm thinking we are going to discuss different ways to carry in the Genny. KSOZE, in reply to your "moving" if you need a loaded gun post. I believe that the bad guys steal , rob and burglarize those that are in the position to feel safe in their neighborhoods, vehicle and property. It is more likely that an expensive vehicle is taken rather then a chevy cruise. Thieves dont like to rob 10 different people when they can just rob one person coming out of the ATM. It is those situation that you can not control that you have to prepare for and be ABLE to protect yourself.

When you life is in danger and seconds matter, its good to know the police are just minutes away.....

Many if not most States do not allow a loaded weapon in the car passenger area. Even many concealed carry permits limit loaded weapons in the car. The "feeling" safer and "being" safer with a gun at hand is an argument probably not best served here.

Anybody carrying a gun in a car - or otherwise - would be advised to get a concealed carry permit first.

Otherwise, if you get into an argument with a cop about a gun, and you have no carry permit, then you will definitely lose that argument with all the consequences that follow.

I recommend a 20 ga. pump - must easier to handle and shoot - although it may not sound so macho.
