Rain/snow affect sensors ?

2015 Ultimate 3.8L.
Owned car since late August and only recently started to get some snow/hard driving rain/cold (you know - Winter)

I've noticed that when it rains or snows that it seems to confuse my front proximity sensors and radar cruise control sensors into beeping. Driving through Chicago a couple days ago with a good blustery snow, i received repeated "ECB error" messages that would clear on their own.

anyone else ?
i intend to raise at my first service appointment of course

Yes - parking sensors seem to have more issues with light, misting rain and not so much with heavier rain. I have not had issues with the SCC in the rain, but any snow/ice buildup on the radar SCC sensor upfront will incapacitate that system. Not sure this is avoidable with the current sensor tech, but you are definitely not alone in these observations!

Keep the plexiglass looking license plate in the front grill (that is the SCC sensor) free of snow & ice accumulating and you won't receive that message.

+1 - Just made a trip from BOS -> PIT, through lots of rain. The car alerted me that there was a problem with the sensor in the front grill. I wiped it off and all was well.

I keep mine waxed and haven't seen the alert only in driving rain storms down here in South Florida...

If they were smart, they would install a high pressure washer as they have done for the headlights on all models with AWD. If the sensor goes into alarm, it should trigger the washer. This would eliminate the issue 99% of the time. That being said, there is no way the sensors can be expected to read anything when covered in snow/slush/salt/ice. This is not a Hyundai problem rather the limits of the tech. Complaining about this is like complaining you cannot see well through the backup camera because it's dirty. In this case the flip out cameras win hands down.

The sensors for both the front parking and tire pressure have been beeping at me ever since last week when we finally got a bunch of snow and cold weather.

The tire pressure monitor doesn't bother me as I know it's just due to the cold and how that reacts with the pressure in the tires. Once I start driving and the tires get warmer the pressure gets back to normal range.

The annoying thing is the front parking sensors. There is no alert or anything when driving at normal speeds but every time I slow down to stop they go crazy and beep and flash and all that jazz. Super annoying. I am going to try and wipe off the sensors when I run some errands here in an hour or so. Hope that fixes it.

Easy fix, first off your tires are too low to start with so pump them up to recommended pressure and the warning will stop altogether even in -30.

As for the parking sensor warning, I recommend you turn the feature off when faced with snow and slush.

I did fix the parking sensor issue. There was ice that was covering one of the sensors. Knocked that off and all is well.
