Wiper Blades - Chatter

My wiper blades seem to chatter/hesitate a lot - almost since the car was new.

Is there an easy cure for this - short of replacing the blades?

Maybe some spray or chemical on the market? Cleaning with alcohol made no difference.

wipe the blade and windows with vinegar and re clean windows with your favorite window cleaner

I've never had a problem in 19 months of ownership - only recently started to see a few streaks suggesting it might be time for new blades. I'd guess you got bad blades or something on your windshield.

I use Rain-X 2-in-1 glass cleaner/treatment, and then follow up with original Rain-X on both the windshield and wiper blades. I still have the OEM wipers on my 2009 Genesis, and they are silent and work fine.

The first time you use Rain-X on glass it will be a bit of work to remove the haze, but it gets a lot easier with repeat applications.

Better yet, I got into the habit of using Aquapel over 10 years ago. I apply in spring and fall to all our cars. This stuff is miraculous is all I can say. Buy it in bulk on ebay.

Thanks for the ideas - since the wipers actually wipe well and are relatively new - I probably should treat the glass with one of the suggested products - the glass is most likely the source of the chatter.

Rain-X is basically silicone. If you treat the window and the wiper with Rain-X, it will work great.

Driver's side on my 2012 v6 chattered fluttered fish-eyed,streaked and slapped. Went through four different brands of blades. A 20 inch blade instead of 24" solved 95% of the blade/glass intetface issues for me.
Hand applied rain-x and added RainX to the reservoir. No joy for that or " glass wax"

Rain-X is applied like a car wax. You apply it, let it dry, and then buff it off. It takes a lot of effort to buff it off the first time you use it. Definitely not designed to be put into the window-washer reservoir.

OK, my mistake.

I actually use that also, but I am pretty sure it is totally different chemicals than regular Rain-X, just that it may be less likely to remove the existing Rain-X already applied when using the Rain-X windshield washer fluid.

Like I said, with regular Rain-X (properly applied and buffed off) on my windshield and wiper blades, I am still using the original OEM blades on my 2009 Genesis. No noise, no streaks.

I wished the wipers on my 2016 were are smooth as those on my previous 2009 Genesis. The new vehicle is less than two-months old and the driver's side wiper has chattered since day one. I've replaced the OEM blades with single-beam Valeo's, but the problem remains. Today, I tried the (white) vinegar tip, so I am hoping that it improves things. I wouldn't mind the chatter if the wiper didn't leave streaks directly in my line of vision (along the lower third of the wiper blade). I am wondering if there might be a defect in that area of the windshield.

The rain-x product that is specifically made to be put in the windshield washer reservoir most definitely is made to be put in the windshield washer reservoir. The only solution I found in three years was to put a 20-22 inch short blade on the drivers side. cheap brands work just as well as expensive brands but All 24 inch blades were a fail.

I said I was mistaken above. However, in my defense, the windshield washer product is not Rain-X, but Rain-X branded windshield washer. So you did not put Rain-X Original Glass Treatment in your windshield washer reservoir.

Let me give you an example. I am sure you are familiar with WD-40. The original formula and WD-40 brand became so well-known that they have branched out and now offer the following products, which are completely different chemical formulas than WD-40.

• WD-40 Electrical Contact Cleaner
• WD-40 Silicone Lubricant
• WD-40 White Lithium Grease
• WD-40 Dry Lube PTFE Spray

You guys need to try Aquapel, just so much longer lasting than RainX. I would say it is the equivalent to using RainX even a step above however you would need to apply it every month as opposed to every 6++ months with the Aquapel.

Do NOT use this stuff. Check out the reviews on Amazon.

Instead, RainX makes a concentrated additive that you add to your regular washer fluid. I've been using this stuff and it works great. I clean my windshield with Stoner Invisible Glass using U-Haul packing paper, then apply regular RainX, and also use the additive. Bliss.
