  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All of a sudden, no remote start?

If you look at the app reviews at the Google Play store (or wherever you got it from) you'll see that the reviews are AWFUL. It seems many people have problems like this. I do too. I will definitely not be renewing my subscription once the three months for free expires.

Tony

I've been using my remote start on my phone for about a month now, everytime I go somewhere to warm it up a little in this cold weather. I've had two instances where it wouldn't start and I quickly remembered I forgot to lock the car. Once I locked it using the app, the car started right up.

Just bumping this thread again.

I finally signed up for Bluelink (2014 Equus) and boy does this app suck. It works sometimes but not all the time.

Another quirk I noticed is that when you hit the blulink mirror button to get directions to a destination sometimes the destination doesn't "download". But when you shut the car off and restart the car all of those "downloaded" destinations show up in the POI section of the bluelink interface.

I called bluelink from the car and asked what was up. They told me they ran an update a few months ago and its flaky. .....thats all I know and can tell ya.

Other than it taking about a minute to send the signal to my car, I've yet to have issues and I use remote start at least twice a day and have sent a few addresses to the navigation. My car is parked in a garage at home and a parking structure at work.

Does your car in a clear area to receive the signals? Isn't the 2015 Genesis Bluelink a newer version than the Equus? Not sure if this has anything to do with the app not working.

My car is parked outside with a very strong signal. The apps might be different between the two cars.... Not sure.

I just asked in another thread, but can you also shut your car off with the app? I can NOT do this with my app. There is an option for it but it says I'm not allowed to do that.

I have the power off button on my app but have not tried it. I will test it out this evening.

The 2015/16 Genesis is on BlueLink 3.0.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem. Mine is doing the same thing. Doors will lock but remote start won't work. Dealer and bluelink can't figure it out and I'm just wasting my time. This is my third and probably last hyundai. I'm always having some stupid issue and can't get any support.

I found that the iOS app for wi-fi only tablets does not appear to work. It says successful but nothing happens.

I guess I ruffled some feathers with this crack about smartphone remote starts:http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=15197

Wow, the phone-based remote stuff is so lame [for me in Houston]. Besides being a huge security issue and slow as sin, it's not very dependable.

In computer science, we call it a chain of dependencies. For a fob to remote start the car, all that needs to work is the fob and car. I couldn't tell you how many things have to work _perfectly_ in order to remote start a car with a phone but it's a lot (cell phone, cell phone tower, provider link to internet, blue link server, blue link telematics provider (google), cell phone tower, car).

Have you tried starting it with your computer as well?

computer didn't work either. dealer said they dont'know what to do and that they will call a regional rep

Let's see how long this process takes.....I had issues with my first 2 sonata hybrids. The first one I had to send lemon law letter before they compensated me appropriately and took 3 months before they found a fix. The second hybrid crapped out and they told me they couldn't find a problem and told me to drive it until it died again........I thought it was a hybrid thing but now this crap with the genesis which is like a $50k car....

anybody have any suggestions? dealer has had my car for over a week. they can't get it to work. they say they are waiting to hear back from bluelink. regional rep is involved. I was out of town but I asked for a loaner when I got back and they gave me a freaking elantra.....not sure what recourse I have at this point. car is under warranty. I'm making payments on it and am not driving it.

Dealer finally fixed the car after over 3 weeks. The final fix was replacing the ibox for anyone who has the same problem. they are going to compensate me about a total of $900 for the inconvenience.

The iBox? Mine just started doing this and I cannot for the life of me get it to work. I am calling my dealership but wanted the right information.
