Does anyone know how to turn off GPS-based time for good?

I have brought my Genesis 2015 from the states to Korea a couple of years ago.

Because replacing the console is so expensive, I still have the console/multimedia unit from the states.

One thing really annoying about it is that it keep going back to the GPS-based clock and the GPS-based clock always sets the time to the EST, not the real local time.

Does anyone know how to turn off the GPS-based time for good? It's like a zombie that won't die.

They definitely messed up when it comes to import/export by owners. Not being able to change something so simple like MPH to KPH is pretty lame and now you bring the clock issue up. I hope Hyundai is listening as it is rather common for people to bring their vehicles elsewhere when called for work in another country and many bring them back when done. To my knowledge, this Gen 2 Genesis is the only vehicle out there which is locked into the country of delivery.

There is an option in the setting menu - just uncheck the box for "use GPS time" option.

Just curious, if selected do you get manual controls to set the clock? I have never seen any way to adjust the time except via GPS automatically.

IIRC, this was intentionally done to thwart reimportation and grey market sales due to extreme pricing variation among various national markets. E.g us cars bought and then sold in Korea.

Well they really screwed up because a loaded V8 AWD Genesis in Canada is actually cheaper than a loaded V6 rwd in the States and it has metric all around just like Korea. In fact that would be pretty cool because the V8 is not available in Korea. Those bean counters must have assumed US cars would always be cheaper.

True, but think of the hoards of cheap canadian AWD v8 s that never made it to the us because us bargain hunters thought they felt slow but couldn't quite figure out why...

Yes - if you unselect "GPS Time", then "Time Settings" is no longer grayed out and you can set the time/date/time zone manually:

Yes, I've done it many times.

But after a while, the option is turned on by itself, and the time is set to the EST.

The option won't stay off.

Is yours a Genesis 2015? The screen looks different from mine. Maybe I should update the firmware.

Not really related, but is there a way to shut off the clock completely in the NAV screen? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.

We like the look of the analog clock underneath the screen and don't feel the need for the digital one in the NAV screen.

^ I want to do that too! I feel the digital clock is redundant when the analog is inches below it.
