Installed Borla pro XS turbo mufflers on Rspec

I just had these mufflers installed and the fitment and sound is perfect. No drone inside. Feels like a different car now. finally sounds like a 5.0. : )

I will post some vids outside the car.

Glad you enjoy them Vast, look forward to the vids. We now have the best sounding rspecs haha. In addition to the sound in performance, we save on the weight vs stockers as well.. Im thinking of adding the msa cat deletes this summer.

Could you guys post some more videos... Maybe some outside the car. I'm thinking of getting these mufflers installed. Could you guys also talk about how the drone is. I'm looking to put these in my r spec and keeping the rest of the exhaust stock.

Thx

on a 1-10 scale, Ill say a 1 as far as drone. I haven't been able to get outside exhaust clips as of yet. Will shoot for this week.

I just threw a set of Borla XS's on my 4.6 this morning, sounds great but haven't even had a chance to throw her on the freeway.

I tried doing a muffler delete on my r spec today and I was worried it would be to load.... I was right. It sounds fine cruising but from a stop at 1500 too 2000 under load it's very loud in the car. At full throttle and when you start it up it sounds very good. Before I got my r spec I had a 2009 4.6. I put the dynomax vt mufflers on. It sounded ok but was pretty quite and at full throttle outside the car you can hear a odd sound as air rushes past the flap. Right not the borla xs are at the top of my list. Would love to hear more of your guys impressions of them and some videos.

The inherent noise problem in just about all (don't know of any exceptions) V8 motors is a loud drone at low rpm - 1000-2000. Mfgs spend a lot of engineering on eliminating this drone. Almost all aftermarket performance mufflers drone --- except the Dynomax VT (drone materially reduced). If you want a "muffler delete sound" on demand, consider electric exhaust valve/cut outs.

Having just recently gone from VT's to Borla's I can confirm that the VT's managed drone much better but of course at the expense of overall exhaust volume. I don't mind a bit of drone under certain conditions but I'll need to see how the Borlas do on a long 4+ hour trip. The exhaust note is glorious but if they get annoying with regard to drone then I'll go back to VT's.

I can live with some drone. But with no mufflers the drone is very bad. I had the vr mufflers, I did not mind them but wish it was a little louder. I had a 240sx with a built skyline motor putting down 515whp and open waist gate.... Now that thing was loud haha. How do you guys find the drone in town when leaving a light? With no mufflers at that point it's louder then I'd want from a four door sedan.

posted video on page 1... All I can say it does not disappoint. the sound nor the very little drone.. I have a 1yr so if she can handle it, im sure anyone can ;)

I've watched that video like 15 times haha. I ordered my mufflers yesterday.
Can't wait to get them on. I'm in Canada so have to order from the states.

Dynomax super turbo mufflers are very subtle and have very tolerable drone. I have them installed and love them.

The best muffler I've ran for minimal drone would be the Dynomax VT's that I just removed. I've ran many mufflers on different cars over the years and nothing else even comes close.

I ordered these and installed. Love the sound.

My borla mufflers showed up today. I'm getting them installed tomorrow, can't not wait to hear them. When you guys got your installed did they just put the pipe into the stock holes on the bumper? Right now I have a muffler delete and from the rear I can see the pipes from the back of the car through the stock exhaust holes in the bumper. I can also see through around the pipe under my car. It's not a big deal, I'm just wondering if I should get them to take off the part on the stock muffler that fits into the opening so the pipe is kind of sealed in there better.

You're right. I couldn't believe how heavy the stock mufflers were. Must have shaved 60 lbs.

That piece your referring to was part of the stock muffler. The shop couldn't use it on mine... maybe due to lack of welding skill... I don't know. I kept the chrome trim on the bumper and you can see the borlas because they are silver. Hope that helps.

Blkgenrspec and Vast, did you have an x pipe installed and other mods done to your exhaust or did you do a muff swap?

Just installed the pro xs by Borla today. The exhaust tone is awesome, sounds like a M5 when engine is under load. Very quiet at idle, nice deep tone during city driving. I notice small drone(bareable) at 20 and 30 mph. Between 35 thru highway speeds the tone is very unnoticable which I like.
When you open it up, it sounds amzing, the engine comes alive. Sounds like a sports car(not muscle), which is the tone I was aiming for. I still have stock piping, all cats, resonator etc. I purchased the offset/ center 2.25dia, which lines up perfectly to the rspecs in-bumper tips. Pics n vids to come later today. Im very happy with this setup, glad I went with Borla!
So I drive a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0r spec and I'm wanting to modify the sound of my exhaust and possibly improve performance. That said everyone goes with the MagnaFlow Cat-Back system for our vehicles as that is the only Cat-Back available.. it is 20/20 which is 5 years after your post and I realize you may not even still own the car but I found what you wrote interesting and am certainly considering borla mufflers because in your video clip I think it sounded great more of a European sports car sound then I've heard the magnaflow's making. I guess my question for you is now that it's five years later did you do anything else to your exhaust system like an x-pipe or cat deletes and what was your favorite setup in hindsight. Even if you did nothing else then replace your stock mufflers with the borla's how do you feel about the performance... again in hindsight ? Did the drone become any worse or were you happy with the performance.. what other advice could you give me now ? I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and respond.

Looks like the part number is 40357. Does that sound right?
Did you wind up installing these same mufflers that model # ? cuz I bought those very ones took them to my mechanic and he said there's a clearance issue and they won't fit or work on my 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0r spec..
