  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Was wondering if you can open or close windows with smart remote. I use to have that in my camry that wasn't even smart remote I mean no proximity sensors it was just lock, unlock and trunk button but the dealer was able to program it for free. this is how it works 1 click doors unlock but if you hold unlock button driver side window and power sun roof open now to close just insert the keys in driver side door and turn counter clockwise to close half left open windows, now one of my uncle have new accord with smart remote he can also do the same thing.
Does anyone know if this is doable?

No it doesnt do that. The remote can open the powered trunk, but cannot close it. I thought that was pretty lame. Plus the range is crap.

Oh I thought with ultimate package you can close the trunk too its automatic power. And speaking of range I think 2G Genny has pretty good range .

It can close by itself if you're at the car. Not with the remote. So if you take something out of the trunk you have to go put it down and come back to the car and close it

It's absolutely ridiculous that Hyundai won't let us close the trunk with the remote. Asinine if you ask me.

i'd rather be able to remote start the car with the fob. NOT a big fan of the bluelink app! hyundai, if you're watching, please put remote start back where it belongs!!

My assumption is it's lawyers at work - this would give the ability to close the trunk without being in visual contact. I'll bet the engineers at Hyundai cringe over this too.

Totally agree. The fact you can't start the car from the FOB is ridiculous. I do not like having to open the app, log in, choose the start function, put in my pin and wait for it to start. If I can see the car out the window I should be able to start it. Then when the app fails and the car DOESN'T start and others are around wondering why I bought that car and cant get it to remote start? Very embarrassing.

If you can see the car, then a FOB is useful. However that is not always the case and for many who park in a garage at work or out of the line of sight, the app remote start is a winner. I have not had not any issues with it working and the process is not that painful (no need to login each time). The actual process can be done in mere seconds. Certainly both would be nice, but if I had to chose one, I'll take the wireless app method.

Agreed. My fob is rarely in range when I need to start the car and it's nice to give it a few minute head start to warm up the cabin a little on cold winter days. It takes 5 seconds to open the app and enter the PIN (which is critical from a security standpoint) and you receive a notification that the request went through. The only 3 or 4 times my starter didn't work is when I forgot to lock the car at home.

If you're going to be embarrassed about the car not starting, 1) make sure the car is locked, otherwise it won't start and 2) don't announce you are starting the car in the rare event it doesn't work.

Im assuming this is sarcasm because I never heard anyone ever announce they were starting the car. My point is when you are at a family function and people are starting their cars thru the window and I am logging in to start mine and I get a notice that says the app is not responding please try later, it looks bad. Then when the wife is asking why our car is not running before we go outside in 20 degree weather, I have to tell her its not working.

Instead of using remote start just say you'd rather not waste the gas and the car warms up much faster when it is driven anyway.

First world problems....;)

the bluelink app usually works ok...but there have been several occasions in the past month where i'd get error messages when trying to remote start the car (yes, the doors were locked!) anyhoo...i'd still like to see remote start on the fob...and please also get rid of the hazard lights after the car starts. it's obnoxious!

I'm not really sure what there is to be embarrassed about then.

Either another attempt at humor or someone who isn't married...lol

bottom-line is everyone has their preference. I park in my garage at home and have a parking spot very near my office. Remote start just isn't something I use very often. Line of sight works better for me is all I am getting at. I understand that it is not the case for everyone.

Wow, the phone-based remote stuff is so lame. Besides being a huge security issue and slow as sin, it's not very dependable.

In computer science, we call it a chain of dependencies. For a fob to remote start the car, all that needs to work is the fob and car. I couldn't tell you how many things have to work _perfectly_ in order to remote start a car with a phone but it's a lot (cell phone, cell phone tower, provider link to internet, blue link server, blue link telematics provider (google), cell phone tower, car).

Its has been very dependable and fast enough for me. What security are you concerned with?

A fob's range is what's lame for me. Typically, if my car is close enough to use the FOB, I don't need to remote start it. However, the phone remote works great to start from my office where a fob would be useless - the car is nice and warm by the time I walk out to it a couple of minutes later.
