  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got an interesting email reply from Miles Johnson, the guy that released the press release on Apple Car Play for the Sonata. I simply asked him if they had a solid idea on the timing of the ACP for the Sonata, and this was his response:

"We have not published a launch date for the 2015 model-year Sonata Apple CarPlay upgrade yet. We are planning on making announcements regarding the launch of CarPlay and the further roll out of Android Auto within the first quarter of next year."

I don't know about you guys, but that gives me tremendous hope when he says 'the further roll out of Android Auto'. I sell these cars and I am the proud owner of a G2 Genesis so I am very familiar with AA. For those of you that haven't experienced AA, it will blow you away. I asked him to explain what he meant by the phrase and am waiting to hear back from him.

Thank you very much for the info!! With that being said, please forgive me if my response towards Hyundai is somewhat tepid, considering the previous false-alarms. I appreciate your effort in reaching out and responding, however.

Can you go into more detail? I guess I've never really looked into exactly what Android Auto does because I have a 2G with Tech package so it's obviously not available yet although I have had the app downloaded on my phone for some time now.

What does AA enable you to do that we can't do already?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I had read somewhere the the release for AVN 4.5 was possible, but DIS systems were still a work in progress.

The fact that the 2015-16 Cadenza and K900 are not on the list yet is likely related to the fact that their systems are based on the same platform as our Genesis and Equus.

Hopefully that just indicates that the updates are still in the works,

maybe they are just waiting until they release the G80/90...

i've been starting to think that. if they waited this long, why not just announce it as a new feature for the G80 since it's mostly just a refresh anyways. and then give it to the older Genesis model. didn't they do something like this with the Sonata?

The fact that a freaking Kia Soul now has Android Auto capability and our cars do not really pisses me off more than it should.

i'm with you, I rode in the 2016 sonata today as i was getting dropped off to work ( car back to dealer for vibration)

radio looks the same as my tech model with the biggest difference is it tells you on the screen to sync you phone to enjoy AA

Which models have the 4.5 AVN system? From Hyundai's home page they list this as coming soon, but say it won't work with the Ultimate Package/DIS upgrade. I have a 2016 with the Signature package so I'm assuming I'll be ok?

Here's what Hyundai says: https://autoservice.hyundaiusa.com/PhoneIntegration/MicroSiteTemplate/MicroSiteTemplateFAQ/1938

Currently Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are not available for the Hyundai Genesis. Hyundai is working on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis models equipped with the Audio Video Navigation (AVN) 4.5 system. Unfortunately we do not have an availability date at this time. Updates for existing customer vehicles require a specific version of the on-board navigation map and we are working to deliver a solution, which will provide the map update, AppleCarPlay and Android Auto support at no additional cost. Due to hardware differences, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will not be offered for 2015 or 2016 Genesis with the Premium Driver Information System (DIS) Navigation system (system included in the Ultimate Package).

The Premium Driver Information System (DIS) Navigation System (included in the Ultimate Package) is not currently compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. We will have news on updates to the premium system for future model years, but do not anticipate updates for existing owners.

Extremely disappointing - the people who paid the most for the technology on their vehicles are left out in the cold? How does that compute?

Not what I'd call good customer service ... and given that the voice recognition and route fining on my system is not up to par (my Chrysler 300C did way better in both respects back in 2012) that's extra disappointing. Not a great way to make me consider the next version of this vehicle when my lease is up.
