  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased a small fishing boat, motor and trailer that weigh about 800 pounds and found only one hitch listed for the car, for $575)

I am not sure that a Genesis hitch will fit an Equus; looking on Amazon says that the Genesis units will not fit.

The manual says that Hyundai does not recommend towing a trailer, but I don't see why it couldn't tow a little boat without any strain at all.

Anyone have experience with towing with the Equus or 5.0 Genesis?

Thanks!

Several Genesis owners have posted in this forum that they towed small trailers without a problem. Hyundai just doesn't want to be held liable if there are any problems. But they add this information about towing in the Equus Owners Manual:

If your vehicle will be towing a trailer,
load from your trailer will be
transferred to your vehicle. Consult
this manual to determine how this
reduces the available cargo and
luggage load capacity of your
vehicle.

Biggest issue is probably the proper attachment of hitch to the car so that is does not damage the unit-body construction. Not like the old days when cars had a separate metal frame that you could bolt anything on to.
