  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am a MORON! /Dead Battery

Thanks for all the help.

I bought a new battery last night and installed (yeah I know make the dealer pay but it isn't worth hours of my time)...

this morning the battery reported 12.8 after sitting 10 hours. The oem never reported that high in the morning.

bad battery....

Hopefully you have time to draft a letter to Hyundai Corporate to let them know what you had to do with your battery. I would even try to include a copy of this thread you started. Maybe this might get you your money back for the battery. Make sure you attach a copy of the receipt.

I once replaced a battery while it was under warranty. The service manager was a customer of our bank. When I told him about it, he asked me for the receipt and sent it in to Ford and they reimbursed me. He explained it's not always possible for a customer to get to the dealer for a battery replacement so that is the M.O.

If nothing else, make a call.

The battery has an unusual shape. Don't know if a normal shape battery will fit, but the next time I pull the "stuff" out of my trunk, and lift the trunk deck, I will take a closer look at it.

I used an optima with 725 CCA (i know cheap).

it is smaller than OEM but is held in place by the battery support.

LOL , the tags for this thread are
battery
moron

just think its somewhat funny...

Optima... cheap? Please tell me where you get them!

Optima batteries are fantastic batteries and are used in go-fast boats quite a bit as they can handle the impacts and are gel-cell. Btw, I bought 2 yellow-tops (deep cycle) for our boat several years back and they tested the CCA for me prior to install. They were both over 1000 despite their 750 rating. They also last from October to May in storage without charging and would still fire up the boat.

deep cycle are much more expensive, I use one on my 22' capri (about twice the price).....

I was saying cheap because I didn't order a battery which is FOR the Genny.

I couldn't find anyone that had one.

I had the same problem on my 09, after much searching found several others have had the same problem. One solution, mine too, was a missing rubber bumper on the driver side of the hood. When hood is closed the bumper closes a switch, what ever the function when closed, it fixed the draining of the battery. Good luck.

You should've called the Hyundai Roadside Service at 800-243-7766. I think the HRS telephone number sticker is on the rear driver side window bottom.
