Car Registration Fees Calculation?

Thanks again for all your help! I have a basic question that Google does not seem to answer

While buying a new car at dealership, the vehicle registration fees is applied to the final purchase price (after adjusting dealer discounts) or on the sticker price on the window? How about the state tax? As per the dealer calculations, it seems he is using the sticker price for all this!

Sales taxes are based on final selling price. They usually include state and sometimes local taxes. You normally pay the tax rate of where you live, rather than the location of the dealer (if different).

Registration and title fees may be different and you need to contact your county or state property tax and licensing authority to figure that out, since these fees vary significantly by state.

with every car i have bought, they charge a fixed amount for the registration and i end up getting a check back for the difference

Registration and sales tax depends on your state and county.
