  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a possible transmission issue. When I am in manual 3rd, it seems almost like the torque converter clutch is locking and unlocking because intermittently, the tachometer will drop back to idle, then come back up. I know it's not just the tach because the engine revs drop and come back up.

EDIT: this ONLY happens during coast/engine braking situations, not during acceleration.

Could one of the clutches for 3rd gear be slipping?

There were some known problems with the early 2012 transmissions, but they should have been fixed by the time yours was built.

My build date is July of 2013 so probably one of the last ones made for the 2013 model year, so I would imagine all of the "teething problems" were fixed either through design improvements and software updates.

From reading through the forum, it seems like most problems were not related to the actual transmission, but rather the software that controls it. Is that a fair assessment?
