  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Been stalking this site for awhile now. Brought the Genesis a week ago with 49k miles on it and the transmission went out. Now Hyundai is replacing it with a brand new transmission. Should I keep the car or get a different car?

Did you do your diligent look into the past history of the car before purchase? If not then this a good time to do it. Get the car fax and any other information on the history of the car even if you have to pay for it then make a more informed decision. I think the 2013 is a very reliable model year it was the second year for the 8 speed in house transmission and fairly well debugged.

I would check the engine oil frequently to see if it is using any oil. If not, and your engine feels and sounds good, then I don't see why you need to sell the car since you will have a brand new transmission and a well-functioning engine. Plus you will probably take a loss if you sell it (unless you are saying that you have the ability to return it and get your money back).

I would use a high quality 5W-30 synthetic motor oil (forget the recommendation to use 5W-20, as even Hyundai has changed to recommending 5W-30 on the same 2015 V6 GDI engine). If you cannot afford a full synthetic (and have to pay someone to do the oil change), then a synthetic blend is better than conventional oil.

Yeah it had all the services and oil change done on time. It's a great car for the one day that I had it for.

The manager at the dealership said when I get the car back and still don't like it he will let me do a swap for another car. The genesis was Hyundai certified to.
