  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Door sills on 5.0 Genesis

Very much enjoyed this movie Mark....
It was recently shown uncut on cable/satellite TV on Turner Classic Movies.

Nominated for 8 Academy Awards, won 5 of them, including Best Picture.

Well that certainly rules out James Woods in Best Seller, which movie is this then?

Is the LED illumination white or bluish color?

And anybody who installed them yourself....can you see the LED bulb? If the color is more blue, perhaps I solder in a new bulb?

I did install the illuminated sill plates a few weekends ago. The color is blue. You don't see the bulb. In fact I'm not sure there is a bulb, it appears more, because of how thin the plate is, a electro-florescent strip. In daylight, you can't see the illumination, it's only visible in the dark. I've not seen a factory equipped plate, so I don't know if those are brighter. I know another forum member did the install some months ago and commented that his plates were not bright either.

I'm going to buy a set on ebay from Korea as they are much cheaper. I emailed every seller from Korea to see if they can sell me the needed wiring kit, but they all told me it's only a USA part. I read the installation instructions and it doesn't seem too difficult. There is an ebay seller from Korea who sells the rear LED sills.....not OEM, but look OEM nonetheless.

They might be OEM on the KDM version of the Genesis. The G1 Genesis V8 had front and rear illuminated door sills.

They state they're made from an outside company called Noble. I just bought the front OEM's off ebay just now.

I happen to find the sills and the wiring kit from the same vendor on eBay. That is the first time I've seen the wiring kit on eBay. The wiring harness part# is B1045 ADUS3. The tag says "Assembled in USA". The kit was not that hard to install. I would recommend getting a set of trim removal tools. The wiring on the body computer is slightly different than what the instructions state. Also there is very little room to attach the wire splicing devices. I was afraid I might pull out a wire from the plug. The harness kit comes with instructions and wire ties. It's very complete. After it was all said and done, the results were not really that impressive. The illumination cannot be seen in the daytime. The sills themselves look nicer than the standard non-illuminated sills. One item on note. Almost every panel I removed has 3M insulation of the back. I guess that why the Genesis is a quiet.
