If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what kind of bulbs I have on my car to replace them. Currently when I drive, I can describe it as being a line of darkness that happens in my view on the road that pretty much only allows me to see clearly something that may be within 20-30 feet in front of my car but nothing beyond with my lows on, and the highs are kinda lack luster.

I purchased the car about 2 months ago, and I finally decided to do a replacement on the low beam, high beam, and DRL lights, as well as the light bulbs on the dome that has the room/door/sunroof buttons on it but can't figure out which bulbs I need, or whether or not the car is actually HID or Halogen.

I called the dealership and pretty much got answers that seemed more like a guess than an actual answer so I come to you guys to see if anyone can help me figure out the following:

How can I tell if I have HID or Halogen bulbs on my car?

If it is HID, what are some good bulbs to replace my current ones with to get more range / clarity? (I think its D1S HID size iirc for low beams and H7 for High)

What kind of bulbs do I need for the dome lights and how do I remove the casing to replace the bulbs that are dying? (I think they are DE3022 But I'm not sure)

I apologize for the long winded post, I looked everywhere and it seems there hasn't been a solid answer anywhere without having to assume.

If you have HID, the lights when turned on will brighten just after being turned on. Halogen bulbs will light and their brightness will not intensify.

HID was included in Tech Trim in '09 at least (possibly also premium but I'm not 100% sure).

If the headlights auto-level and auto-steer, then they are definitely HID. If there is a DIS knob in the console, then they are HID.

Also here's a website that has both types, with pictures to help you ID yours:

Thank you! The car came fully loaded with the tech and premium package so I that definitely helps me a ton! I don't think the high beams are HID as they are much yellower, and I may do a kit for them eventually.

Do you have the HID's? I noticed it looks like a solid line of darkness when driving at night that limits my viewing distance with the low beams on dramatically. (Pretty much I can see what's in front of me a short ways, but if a deer were to come out, I wouldn't see it until its too late ><)

Do you by any chance know how to change the bulbs for the dome front lights by the way? I'm not very dexterous so I don't want to try prying one open without know it will work, because I will most likely break it lol.

Correct, the hi beams are halogen.

Raise the angle with the adjustment screws... or take to a mechanic and give 'em a $20 to do it for you. Haven't messed with the dome lights, but another $10 or so will do it.

I can't speak for the front dome lights, but the rear lights were LED, and I had one replaced by the dealer (couldn't find the relevant bulb, or some other issue, it was a few years ago). It actually was replaced under warranty so that was good.
