  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was having my oil Changed today on my 2014 R-Spec and was surprised to learn that my car has two air filters under the hood. My 2011 only has one, I believe.

I always replace air filters myself and these look easy enough to replace from the manual. Where do you guys buy your air filters? Do you change both of them out at the same intervals?

Can you provide a pic? Are you sure they weren't talking about the cabin filter as being the other filter?

Definitely not the cabin filter. These are both under the hood! Here is my 2014 Manual and mine is equipped with the Main air filter and separate Chamber air filter.

I don't know what it is, but I would just go to the Hyundai dealer parts department and get the chamber air filter there.

I also have the 2 filters and was a bit confused as to what was going on when I first opened the hood(what's the purpose of the smaller one...). For now they are in good shape, figured I'd cross that bridge when it comes time to change them. I assume OEM is probably the way to go with the smaller one. K&N makes a replacement for the larger filter. I believe there are plenty of threads on the CAI surrounding the r-spec.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There are indeed two filters. I got both from NAPA. They fit just fine.

the air container holds a bunch of ready to go air. I went with a K&N main filter & stock reserve air filter. I also removed the flapper below to filter & felt a measurable increase in performance immediately. Seems the compter learns. I disconnected battery to reset computer. Super ez

Oreilly sells replacement Wix filters for both the primary and secondary filters. That's where I get mine.

Mine also has the main and the chamber filter. After i purchased my R, I opened the owners manual and that's when i discovered the chamber filter. Inspected both, the main was looked brand new but the chamber was the original filthy oem. Try telling the auto parts counter guy that you need the chamber filter...strange looks and difficult to find.

i changed both to k&n you can find them on amazon.

Does any one know K&N makes the smaller air filter?
I couldn't find it in their web site.
Probably not?

Cut,
Yes there is a large filter in the typical box near the passenger side front and a small secondary filter near the front in the center. I have always replaced both at the same interval.
