  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As new tire time came around I started looking at brands and got to looking at Vogue Tyres. I purchased a set of Vogue V-Black from Discount Tire at a great price and have fallen in love with them. Soft and quiet is what I want in my everyday tires and these really deliver on those points. The Genny will never ride as does a Buick but it's certainly better than it was previously. Put aside your "pimpmobile" stereotypes and give them a chance!

I looked at Voguetyre.com site and could not locate a 235/50/18 W rated tire. Did you go with a lower speed rating?

Vogue's are "showroom tires" -- Caddy's and such used to sport them. Didn't know they still sold that brand.

The Genny doesn't ride like a Buick - you're right - And thank god for that.

The Equus and G90 are closer to that old Buick ride that you're looking for. The Genesis and G80 is more of a midsize sports sedan and it's going to ride firmer than the larger Equus/G90...

To homeofstone: W speed rated
to genesis motors: I'm not looking for a Buick-like ride;simply quieter and not as jittery. My Porsche lets me know which side of a dime I just drove over but I don't care in the genny.

A lot depends on the model year of the Genesis. The early 2009 was the worst in terms of jittery ride, with moderate improvements in 2010. A bigger change was made in 2012, and of course the 2G is completely different ride.

The original USA Genesis was much stiffer than the KDM version, because the one made for Korea was judged by HMA to be too soft for US consumers. So they "re-tuned" it for the USA market at the Hyundai track and design center in California. But they over did it for the early 2009 models (the springs overpowered the struts/shocks), maybe because their track was too smooth, or the warm weather made the springs less stiff, or maybe they were idiots.

But according to HMA CEO John Krafcek (now head of Google Motors), the target for the original Genesis was the Infiniti M (there is a Car and Driver YouTube video where he talks about it). But that may be part of the reason he was fired, because I am not sure that Hyundai Korea ever bought into that.

I have a early 2009, and upgraded my suspension to the 2011 suspension and bought some Michelin Primacy tires, both of which helped a lot.

Just noting that the Infiniti M wasn't necessarily a bad target. It was just overpriced...

I feel they hit their target (Q70, 550i, E400) with the second generation. I don't see the Genesis as an "equal" yet but very, very close...

I don't think they actually achieved the goal of being like an Infiniti M, but that was just their target (also the BMW 5, MB E, etc).

Here is the Car and Driver video review:

At the time the review, Krakcik was not CEO of HMA yet, but was given that position a short time later.
