  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dear Mr. Fitzgerald - Genesis Brand leader

I agree on wipers - headlights. My 08 Pontiac has headlights that go on with wipers (after a few swipes and not with the washers). It is definitely a huge safety thing, I have seen many drive in the day in heavy rain where no lights are on and you can't see them until you are on top of them.

Yes it is law in my state, but I was doing it way before the law.

I also agree with remote start on key fob (most GM's have it standard)

And settings tied to fob (my 04 Acura did it)

Allow things to be modified in car, like when auto lights turn on (Audi and others allow you to set sensitivity), how long lights stay on after leaving car, etc.

Use the HD 720p quality screen in all cars

Improve the rear backup camera quality (I think it may be lower on non-ultimate or non-tech cars, as some say it is fine in some threads, mine is blurry and low contrast) Heck, a rental altima had better quality than the Genny. Camera cost for 720p or even 1080p is less than $1 more at cost to factory.

I have a genny with sig. pkg. and picture quality is very good......have you tried cleaning the lens. ??? :)

Agree with the rearview camera, my G1 had better camera than my G2, even my wife's 2016 Sonata GL seems to have better resolution than my 2016 Genny with Tech package.

My observation is that the placement of the lens on the DH Genesis is somewhat more susceptible to getting water and road dirt on it than other cars I have owned. The resolution is definitely lower than my '13 Azera, but it's more than adequate for the intended function.

(xsolara... on a side note, we have some things in common.... we both had Azeras, and upgraded to Genesis AWD Signature. I also just got Continental Extreme Contact DWS on my Genesis based in part on your recommendation. I had 2 bad sets of the Michelin MXM4s. Happy with the Contis)

I had DWS on my Azera and was very happy with them.... Never had much luck with Michelins ( wore out fast). I'll replace the Michelins with The DWS6 as soon as the tires wear out.

Interesting - I've never had a BAD experience with Micheline Tires. And interestingly enough, the Continental DWS are less expensive than the MxM4's.

Actually, DWS were the least expensive option of the bunch. The new Premier A/S have rated very competitively with the DWS. There have been some reports of folks that had issues with the MXM4s, that were solved with either the Contis or the Premiers. Since I had 2 bad sets of MXMs, I just figured that I'd be better off with something different. I've seen enough positive comments on the Contis to feel pretty comfortable with them.

The loaner I had was fitted with MXMs, and it was fine, although I prefer the Contis based on my experience so far.

1) I love the puddle lights recognizing me but I would rather when I pull the handle the door would unlock. My 05 STS did this. 2) Overall service has to get better our 50k vehicle is treated the same as an Elantra. 3) How come the Azera has more luxury/included features? Name stitched seats, ambient lighting, fog lights without a V8 and similar power numbers. 4) Remote Start on fob.....

Thanks for asking, yes, I have tried cleaning it, same before and after, blurry and low contrast. Not a biggie, but they should have a 720 in there instead of a 480 line resolution or maybe less.

my wifes 2012 crv back up camera has a much better resolution than my genny. not a big deal but kinda made me do a double take the first time I used it. the genny is grainy and could use a slightly wider FOV

I do not find the backup camera resolution to be an issue. As as been stated here, the back up camera is not meant to be a HD view of the world behind you. There are no movies playing nor Facebook posts to zoom in on. It is used as an aid in backing up and avoiding objects, all of which are visible in the resolution and angles provided. Would it be nice to have it be better resolution, sure, but it is in no way insufficient for the task being solved.

All five from the original post have my enthusiastic votes!!!

1. More striking/sleek sheetmetal (which it seems Fitzgerald and Donckerwolke are already working on based on the New York concept).

2. Similar to above - more striking/sleek design for the dash - while it's a good thing to go w/ clean lines, the present dash design on the G80 is a bit underwhelming and stodgy (the dash design on the Cadenza has a similar linear layout, but looks more modern).

3. Upgrade interior materials - door releases, paddle shifters and other such touch-points should be real metal and not silver painted plastic.

All switchgear should have a nice feel (substantial) to them - the present rotary control feels a bit cheap compared to the competition and doesn't have as solid a feel when turning (assuming than once the Genesis lineup gets built out - economies of scale will allow for upgrading of the switchgear - and possibly even more so w/ the Kia luxury models, altho want to differentiate the 2 somewhat).

The padding on the door elbow rest, as for the center console should be substantial and soft (a bit hard on the present Genesis/G80). Also, the touchpoints for the knees should also be padded (doesn't have to be real leather).

For wood trim - offer more options and stick mostly w/ matte-open pore finish.

Couldn't agree more :=)

the 3.8 should have the same power as the genesis coupe. and maybe the v8 adjustable suspension could come on the 3.8 as well. even if it has to be offered in only the Ultimate package. i agree with a lot of these suggestions including the remote start button on the keyfob. if the headlights are going to come on with the windshield wipers, then only if the automatic wipers come on. or after a certain amount of time after manually turning them on. as far as turning the car on and its still in the drive mode you left it in, only if its left in normal or eco.

I wonder if the 3.8 is louder in the Coupe than it is in the Sedan. That might be a reason for the lower horsepower - keeping things quiet...

possibly. i remember when i started gaining interest in the sedan(ive known about the coupe for years as ive been involved in the tuner crowd for a while), i was slightly confused as to why the bigger, heavier sedan had less power than the coupe when they had the same engines, at least as far as displacement.

id also like to add that it would be nice if they had cameras all the way around the car. my friends nissan rogue has it but the genesis/g80 does not. very strange lol

I can't imagine why we don't have that here in the United States. Perhaps it has something to do with flashing lights and seizures. I don't know. For years I've wanted something that indicates the intensions of the driver in front of you. For example, I'd love to see a system where there's a small light somewhere on the back of each car and if you're on the gas, the light is green. If you're hovering over the brake pedal, the light is orange, if you're pressing softly on the brake pedal - the brake lights work as usual - but if you're pressing hard on the brake pedal - the lights flash. This would probably prevent a lot of accidents. I'd really love to know if the person ahead of me has their foot over the brake...

all this talk about the brake lights reminds me of my girl friends mini. when she presses on the brake pedal, the outside of the brake light lights up. but if she presses on them even harder, the center portion of the light will also light up. i like the flashing light idea, but i also like this 2 stage light that mini has

4) the auto hold button should be eliminated, ala' MB, and should be activated by simply pushing the brake pedal when stopped w/ the tranny in D

Sorry, not keen. I press AUTO when driving in town and it's a great feature at traffic lights. However, if I am in a traffic queue that stop/starts regularly, I like the way an automatic moves forward when the brake is released.
