  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Another R-Spec / 5.0 tune attempt? There may still be hope for us!

Tuning is still in progress, they still have my loaner ECU (almost two years now as it is tough nut to crack!) and they continue to tinker with it. But there is no solution as of yet.

A set of rigit collar plus a larger rear wheels and decent set of tires assists in putting the extra power after some or all of the mentioned mods above (estimated to be roughly 10-15hp total, after an ECU reset with the battery terminal reset trick).

I have an appointment at BTR on Tuesday at 10:30am for changing springs suspension in my car. I'll ask Sam if there is any progress, I would like to know as well.

Much appreciated dareckibmw...

David - It's been a while. I moved to NC, and finally logged on. lol.

Sam is indeed still working on the 5.0, as it makes sense to corner the market much the same as the 4.6. The ECU is problematic. I'm guessing similar to the Lexus ECU, which everyone says is not crack-able. We shall see. For the 4.6 - I only added 20hp or so at the wheels, but picked up significant torque. I'm sure Ed posted the need for this motor to breathe - larger intake tubing and filter impacts dramatically. My totals were 333HP/326TQ

There is another tune event here in NC - Raleigh - coming up soon. I'll follow up if there is any development on the 5.0

Hope you and the family are well.

Ryan

I have a 2013 genesis r spec 5.0 been trying to find a cai but only found the secret weapon r. But I heard it takes away airflow and because of its placement it just sucks in engine bay hot air. Any suggestions.

K&N drop in filter
Remove flapper in intake or tape over flapper magnet so it opens easier.
Call it a day

That’s what I did. So no reason the make a cold air intake?

The only CAI I'm aware of (R2C) produced worse results than stock.
