  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.8 with the Tech package

When I mute the radio pushing in on the radio control with either the AM/FM or Sat screen displaying. The radio gets muted but the screen changes to the Mav screen and does not revert when unmuted. If I have the Nav Menu or INfo/Phone activated, the screen stays the same.. Could someone check and see if their auto is doing the same... Getting ready to visit the dealer to finish the trunk with the speaker cover..

On the issue of the speaker cover in the trunk........... For home stereo systems I understand that the cabinet the speaker is in is as important as anything when it comes to delivering sound........ In other words a larger speaker cabinet will produce different sound than a smaller one....... The type and richness of the wood used in the cabinet affects the sound as well........ so I am wondering....... by adding a cover over the speaker in the trunk.... will this affect the sound dynamics since the speaker will no longer have the trunk as a cabinet ..?........ Does anyone know the answer to this question?.....

I do believe the trunk uppper lining affets the resonance property of the sub-woofer.
May be thats why some( because not all the Genesis have the lining) people complained about the weak bass in Genesis. My Genesis came with the upper lining, and the bass response is very weak. I am planning to modify the lining by cutting a vent hole right under the sub-woofer. Hopefully that will restore the original power of the sub-woofer.

That seems to make sense....... as far as I know a speaker needs to push air in a cavity to make sound........ That is why typically more powerful speakers have bigger cabinets, although this is not always true because there are other factors

First there is no mute button. I assume you press the radio on/off button that sits to the left of the CD/DVD player.

Second I'm not sure what you mean by "sat screen" or "Mav screen". If by that you mean the XM info screen and GPS Navigation screen it's normal operation. Since you're turning off the radio by pressing that button the screen will show you something other than radio information screens, the GPS navigation in this case. If you'd like to see the radio information screen when you turn the radio back on just use the radio control button on the center console to do it.
