If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi.

Sadly, my 2012 Rspec just got destroyed in an accident. I love the car so I'm shopping for a replacement Genesis. I'm focusing on a 2015 3.8 AWD with at least Tech Package.

One of the challenges I'm having is with car sites where the person creating the listing doesn't know anything about the car their listing so they only list the useless features like naming every darn airbag and the tachometer. <eye roll>

I'd like to find an easy way to identify a car with a Tech Package that anybody could validate for me when I send them an email or call them on the phone. For example, if it has the X-Button to the left of the steering wheel then it's the Tech Package. Same thing for the Ultimate Package.

Also, would it be possible for a 2015 AWD to NOT have the HTRAC badge next to the 3.8? That's what I'm currently using for validating AWD as I shop on the sites.

Thanks for your help.

Here the features for the 3.8 Ultimate, over and above Tech Package on the 2016, which I believe is same as 2015:

  • Genuine matte-finish wood trim and aluminum trim
  • Full Color Heads-up Display
  • Premium 9.2-inch touchscreen and DIS navigation with HD Display
  • Lexicon® 17-speaker Discrete Logic 7® surround sound audio
  • Power trunk lid
  • Dual-mode front vent control HVAC and CO2 Sensor

Here are features of Tech Package for 2016:

  • Premium leather seats
  • Power driver seat cushion extender and side bolster
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Smart Cruise Control with stop/start
  • Haptic steering wheel
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Electronic Parking Brake with Automatic Vehicle Hold
  • Pre-safety seatbelt
  • High Beam Assist
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors
  • 7-inch color LCD Multi-Information Display
AWD will have H-Track badge, unless someone took it off, or car was in an accident and they did not put a new one on.

Mark pretty much sums it up. I look for either the HUD or the DIS control knob (the big round thing) that sits on the center console just in front of the large arm rest to know it's an Ultimate. The DIS control knob is usually present (or not) when viewing pictures of the car online.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you were safe and no one got hurt?

Here is a little trick I used in the past to find out what options a given listing that worked for me in the past:

http://www.jimellishyundai.com/exte.../monroney/windowsticker?vin=KMHFH4JG6FA487841

Backup:

http://www.bloomingtonhyundai.com/e.../monroney/windowsticker?vin=KMHGN4JF8FU049177

Backup 2:

http://www.burnsvillehyundai.com/ex.../monroney/windowsticker?vin=KMHFH4JG6FA487841

just replace the VIN number of the vehicle you are interested in the address bar

Enjoy.

That is awesome!! Just pulled up my own window sticker. At first, I didn't know what the hell you were trying to say, but once I caught on....very cool.

Sorry, It has been a log day, the techie in me tends to speak short hand around this time...:D
To clarify the links I posted will pull the Window sticker of any (recent) Hyundai vehicle simply by replacing the last part of the URL (vin=<new_vehicle_vin>)
example:
.<site>/monroney/windowsticker?vin=KMHGN4JF7FU085183

I know what features are included. Any google search provides that. The problem is that the people listing the cars can't list those features since they don't know them.

So far, nobody knows of any psychical features that identify a Tech Package that any lay person can see offhand to verify for me. Hoping for more responses.

As a better example of what I'm looking for, I know I can identify at least a Signature package with a picture of the shifter console as the seat buttons would include heating AND cooling options. Cool vented front seats are included with the Signature package. (and of course Tech and Ultimate which also require Signature as a base)

Enjoy.

Thanks! Very useful for the sites that include VIN numbers.

Glad to hear it.

Ok, if you want to do it by pictures alone:

the 9.2" screen will tell you it is the ultimate (wide screen not a square)
the 8" screen with the adaptive cruise control button (shows a car with bars in front of it) located on the steering wheel will tell you it is a tech package,
You know the signature already,
The base does not have any DIS controller.

Does that help?

To me the easy answer is to ask that person to read me the VIN number off the driver door, so I can check the spec prior to seeing the vehicle myself...
But that is just me....

For sure I'll use the VIN when available. There are literally hundreds of cars to look through so if the VIN isn't posted I'd rather scan a few pics to rule them out vs making a hundred phone calls to get the VIN.

the center console is all you need to see,A ultimate will have a knob near the gear shift,

for a tech package, no knob and look @ the steering wheel for the Smart cruise button

Tech and Ultimate also have the sensor in the middle of the grille for the smart cruise. Need to look a bit but it is solid.

Thanks for the tips guys

I always looked for the leg support on the driver's seat, it only come with tech and ultimate and most people post a picture of the driver's seat. Also, the upgraded leather seats will have accents.
