If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all, I'm just curious what driving mode you guys keep it at? I've had my 2015 Ultimate since February of this year and for the fist month I had it on ECO mode but one day I forgot to change it to ECO mode and it was on Normal mode and surprisingly I somehow got better MPG on that 10 mile city trip then what I would got with ECO mode. I was really surprised by this since I was expecting a better MPG average with ECO mode:confused:. I remember, with ECO mode I was averaging around 16-16.5 MPG (city) and with Normal mode I am closer to 18 MPG with same city driving. Needles to say, when I get in my car, I just leave it in Normal mode every time.

I *want* to keep it in Sport, but it won't shift to 8th until you are doing 80+.

So it's Normal for me, and to be honest I have never really compared to Eco.

Regular mode, sometimes when entering at highways I put Sport mode for some time, I've never use Eco mode.

Regular. I'm too lazy to switch every time I get in the car. I wish it would remember my last setting.

regular, i find constantly having to re-enter all of the settings each time you get in the car VS german vehicles that allow a memory function quite annoying..Regular 90% of the time . i'm not even sure Eco actually does something

Normal 100%; I've tried Sport but I don't like having high revs shifting all the time. I get all the oomph I need in normal mode. Never tried eco.

Starting the Genesis is like being the pilot of an airliner, doing all the pre-checks.

  1. Press "Drive Mode" button to get ECO mode
  2. Press "Auto Hold" button to activate that function
  3. Press "Seat ventilation" button to activate the ventilated seat (and the create shade over the button to see if it's actually on, because the LEDs are the dimmest they could find on earth)
  4. Press "Adaptive Cruise Control" button to activate the ACC

You would think someone that tested this car in development would have gone back and said to the engineers: "Geez, this sucks, why do I have to reset all these things every time I start the car?"

All this could be fixed in software ...

Annoying.

To answer the OPs question, I usually set the car to ECO mode - SPORT if I get annoyed and need some more response to get around idiots playing on their phones while pretending to be driving a 2 ton hunk of metal on public roads and highways. Still haven't been able to get a consistent 20 mpg or better, even while mostly driving on toll-roads and highways with light traffic. My average is just over 19 mpg ...

Wow. That is surprising if you mostly drive on highways. I have a heavy foot, mixed highway/city and get 21 mpg.

I got a meagre 15 mpg mileage last time but then i was using it almost in sports mode. Now i am putting it in normal and wish to get 18 mpg. I have 5.0 btw.

ECO mostly, Sport when I want to hear the exhaust better plus the instant power. Regular mode is when I forgot about the either putting it in ECO or Sport.

Almost the same as Jaeger ;)

I am driving in ECO mode in the city and Normal or Sport on the highways ;)

Traction/stability off, ~90% normal mode, 10 sport and I'm using paddles most of the time.

Thanks for all the responses but I am really surprised that alot of you guys rarely use the ECO mode, especially considering it gets around 16 MPG in the city

City driving – Sport if the traffic is heavy, otherwise Normal.
Highway driving – Sport when I run into heavy traffic, otherwise Eco.

I prefer using the Sport mode in heavy city traffic because I might need plenty of “giddy up” at a moment’s notice. Otherwise, Normal mode should generally do the job, but definitely not Eco as there are far too many instances when you will get caught with your pants down, so to speak.

Speed limit here is 80 - 85 mph - I live 2 miles from the fastest highway in the US.

Still disappointing mpg, since it shouldn't use much gas to go steady at 80 mph. But I'm used to 130 mph or more back home, so 80 mph just feels slow. I would just have a hard time explaining that speed to the State Trooper ... I don' think "Autobahn trained" is a valid excuse for going 50 mph over the posted limit.
