Genesis parts availablilty Rant & help needed!

Hey y'all quick stray poll here... I need an inner tie rod and get this, parts dealers I have contacted all say it is discontinued part and one suggests I buy the steering rack assembly hmmmm $3k for a $100 part?? 😊

Does this sound right to you?

Wtf how can Hyundai not supply such a basic part?? Any Koreans on here want to proxy ship me a part ?

does not make a lot of sense, they should definitely have replacement parts available. Are you sure they are looking up the right part? You could also try junkyards and have them search, there are already totaled Genesis sedans out there.

HMA decides which parts to sell separately, and which to bundle as a package. The dealer can only get parts that are sold by HMA.

It's not feasible to sell every part separately, and for some reason they changed their minds about a part that was previously sold by itself.

What model year is your car? Do you know the part number?

You could check with some online junkyards.

No, this sounds totally insane to me – can you imagine if you have to replace another one in 2 years’ time. Ouch!!! Doesn’t make any sense at all because, as you pointed out, it is such a basic part.

How much mileage do you actually have on your vehicle and how come this part didn’t last any longer?

Try m&m auto salvage at 800-533-4059. Ask for Roger.

They had 2 IHS test cars; I bought an alloy wheel from them for my matching spare.

Yep I am certain, 57724-B1200 INNER TIE ROD w/o AWD. Looks like two sold on eBay last month, just missed them.

Yeah I just do not get why they would do that unless they are introducing a new part number or something? I hit a curb while avoiding a collision with a truck, bent rod.

Normally, it would either be under warranty, or it would be a result of an accident covered by insurance. I never heard of anyone on this forum complain of a bad tie rod that was not caused by an accident.

My comments were about availability. If it were a warranty repair or an insurance claim, no one would be complaining about the fact that only the complete assembly was available to be purchased, and not just the tie rod.

There are many, many parts that must be purchased as a complete assembly, instead of individual components. If there were a lot of complaints about that, they might reconsider, but for the reasons I stated above there probably have not been a lot of complaints about the tied rod not being able to be purchased by itself.

I don't know exactly why they decided to only offer the complete assembly for that section of the suspension, but I assume they have some reason. There are many parts you cannot order individually. For example, you cannot order transmission parts or internal engine parts, only the complete transmission or engine.

I understand that it is bad luck for you that this has happened, but selling only complete assemblies is nothing new. If you cannot get a tie rod from a junkyard, you might want to contact one of the Korean auto part importers (they often sell on eBay) and see if the Korean dealers sell the part individually.

Did you try looking at the part but for a 2017 G80?

Strange how rockauto.com has the outer tie rods but not the inner. Or is that what you've been running into?

Yes outer tie rods are available, inner tie rods do not seem to be available at the moment although they are confirmed to be a legit individual part. I have not seen G80 parts available yet to check.

After a looooooong search, I finally hit pay dirt: BECKARNLEY 101-7832 Tie Rod End. $75 vs. $3.5k part. Suck it, HMA.

I think the site added the link, I bought one on eBay. Also I found out that MAS Industries makes it too, RWD version is difficult to find.

And as a PSA second aftermarket option is Steering Tie Rod End Front Inner MAS TI60350 fits 2015 Hyundai Genesis.

I'm having the same issue with my 2018 G80 3.8 RWD Inner Tie Rod. It snapped on a pot hole and the dealer won't sell me the inner Tie Rod. They want 3k just for the whole gear assembly. I see from 2015-2017 the RWD uses the part # 57724-B1200 INNER TIE ROD w/o AWD. Might just have to risk it and order it. I would just hate to take it apart and have the wrong part.

Not sure what to do or if anyone know if the years are interchangeable?
