LOVEMYSWEETNESS

I own a fully optioned 2015 3.8L Genesis RWD Sedan. I have disability issues and require all the extra equipment in order to drive safely. The car was purchased as a replacement for a fully optioned 2014 Caddy SRX, which I was forced to 'lemon' as much of the 'safety equipment' did not function consistently. I have had the Genny for about 18 months and have less than 7500 miles on it. I have always been VERY impressed with the respect that Hyundai has afforded Genny owners. However, I am now livid with Hyundai. I have been receiving information on the new Genesis Motors, which is a concept that I actually suggested to Hyundai. No, I am not saying that I am the force behind the entity, but I wrote Hyundai a number of times suggesting that it would improve public opinion of the Genesis and Equus models if they were sold separately from other Hyundais. This would be similar to the Toyota/Lexus, Mazda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti, etc. models. Last week, I received the announcement of the new G80, which is virtually identical to my car. I believe the only difference is the inclusion of fog lights, and the change in option packages from three to two, The MSRP is virtually identical to that on the vehicle sitting in my driveway. The car looks the same, the specs are identical -- I had just planned on switching out the wings and the Genesis on the trunk for the G80 and having a 'refreshed' car!
Well, guess what? According to Hyundai, I do not own a Genesis. I own a Hyundai Genesis. I learned this by going to the Genesismotorsusa.com website. I was able to sign in with my Genesis credentials, but when I went to save my vehicle using the VIN, I was informed that my VIN is a Hyundai, not a Genesis. Interesting! So, I emailed both Genesismotorsusa, which did not respond, and Hyundai, which has responded with very trite emails. Hyundai has informed me that:
"We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding the introduction of the new Genesis line and apologize for any misconception which may have come from the Genesis launch.
Hyundai understands owners' concerns with other models being in the shadow of the Genesis line. We want to assure our family of Hyundai owners that they are still our top priority and will be receiving the same care and service expected from the Hyundai brand. The knowledge that Hyundai has millions of models on the road today only solidifies the need for ongoing excellence in customer care and making sure that every member of the Hyundai family of owners still retains as much importance to the Hyundai brand as the Genesis line.
Please keep in mind that Hyundai is the manufacture of the Genesis, and existing owners will continue to get the same excellent service."
They then proceed to tell me where I can get my Hyundai serviced. I feel as if I am going crazy! Did I or didn't I buy a Genesis? What is this going to do to the value of our cars? Are they going to give us a rebate for the increased depreciation as we are not "real" Genesis owners?
I had planned on buying another Genny down the line as there were technological improvements which made it worthwhile. Right now, I would be repurchasing the same car. The only difference would be that this would be a ''real" Genny, as opposed to our fakes. Infuriating.
I plan on pursuing this. If anyone else is upset, please reply.
