Second Generation 2015 3.8 sedan exhaust setup

Been through the entire threads looking for any exhaust mods for my genny. Can't find any and I'm looking for some directions. Found a OEM CAI from AEM inductions and ark springs pretty stoked about. Should be delivered Friday. Looking for any that have done a cat back setup. I like magnaflow sound. I think borla is too meaty of a sound for my 3.8. I'm going to do the springs an intake myself but leaving the exhaust to the pros.
Thoughts Reccomendations ?

Ark was supposedly going to start building an exhaust for the both the 3.8 and 5.0, but who knows when that will start. Magnaflow's website says an exhaust system has been green lighted and is currently in r&d. Who knows how long that will take too. You can always buy mufflers of your choice and go to a shop who does mandrel bends and have them make you a one off system.

You can even go huddleston's route and get cutouts.

there are many shops down here in Miami that do Mandrel bends fairly cheap. might want to shop around wherever you live. Last time I did it the upcharge for Mandrel was less than $50.

Here in Southern CA there's a couple shops out here that do mandrel bends also. Much cheaper than buying a complete system. For example if you look at magnaflow's exhaust systems or Ark's exhaust systems, they run about $1200-$1500. A custom system with mandrel bends is much cheaper than that. The only drawback is the designs aren't backed by a dyno. It's a mostly a "what fits where" type deal. But if you just want sound and don't really care about the tiny potential 8-10 hp, custom is the way to go.

I took matters in to my own hands. I used 2 Dynomax VT Mufflers 17159 and Dynomax ultra flow welded x 17553. I did 2.5 piping all the way thru. The car sounds amazing and you can definitely feel the difference. Might be the best sounding exhaust I've ever owned. My AEM CAI came in today and will be installing it when i get home from work.

I'm thinking about that too, i just don't want to have to pay labor twice if I want to add the 17553 later. but i really want to hear these before I make the jump.

well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the two 17159s and the 17553. I'd still really like to hear them before I pay to have them installed though.

...so I put on the 17159s today. Didn't bother with the X pipe because the space looked a little too tight. Drove home from the shop....

...and took them off 10 miles later. thank god I asked the muffler shop to mate them to the stock exhaust flanges so I could go back to stock easily. I put the stock units back on in my garage to avoid the embarrassment of going back to the shop with my tail between my legs. Thankfully this only took about 30 minutes with me on my back.

While the sound they produce is lovely, the AMOUNT of it, even with the windows closed, is too much, IMO, for a 'grown-up' sedan. I was hoping for Infiniti G35/37 stock exhaust notes, but these were far louder than that.

This video, which I thought was the 17159s with all the other stock parts removed, I suspect is just the 17159s axle-back, with the stock H-pipe and the two canister-style exhausts still in place. Clearly the stock equipment front of the rear axle doesn't do much.

The 17159s had no drone, that's true. Steady-speed cruising was silent. The second you wanted more speed, however...even with the windows up, the noise was considerable. I'm surprised at how little insulation there is between the passenger cabin and the exhaust area. I guess the car is silent because there's no noise coming from the stock mufflers.

There is some truth to that, but it's mainly due to the lack of insulation above the exhaust tips/muffler area. The trunk has some liner but it's mostly metal under the spare wheel. The back seats have a few inches of foam so that helps, the underside of the car has some foam under seats and metal, some mass loaded vinyl around the transmission/exhaust tunnel area, the carpets, etc.

If you like the way it sounds on the outside, the easiest/cheapest way to get a more quiet interior is to soundproof the bottom of the trunk since most of your noise comes from under there. You can line it with foam, acoustic foam, mass loaded vinyl or anything to block sound from coming into the cabin. The rear seats provide some sound absorption so that part should be ok.

I got the previous model V6 and went from hearing the (stock) exhaust to only hearing the engine even at high revs because the back is so much more quiet than the front now.
