  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tail lights are hideous on the 2017 Lincoln Continental. They need to drop the idea that the ugly design features of past years need to have some link into the future models.

The thing that made the Genesis what it is today, is that Hyundai threw away the first Genesis prototype, which had some design "clues" to previous Hyundai models. They told the designers to start over and don't worry about whether it looks like any previous Hyundai. Lincoln should do the same.

If you hadn't id'd the car as a Lincoln, I would have assumed it was just another cheap little family sedan.

I am old enough (not telling) to remember when Lincoln Conti's stood out as something special.

Same here. In High School I LOVED the "Kennedy" era suicide door Lincoln Continentals (1961-1965). Their classic beauty is as impressive today as it was then.

If they would remake the old Conti's with updated engines/drivetrains and minimal gadgets, I would go for one in a minute.

Do you think the G90 will outsell the Continental?

I think if the rear of that continental was a bit better it would do really well. The main issue I see here is that it has been a long time since Lincoln really went after this market and they have kinda/sorta positioned themselves like Lexus where they are offering sporty luxury

That being said I love the headlights and I actually really like the handles. Good to see that the 3.0/400 HP engine comes with AWD standard but I don't believe their MPG numbers after seeing so many coworkers with Ecoboost F150s getting about 20% lower fuel economy than stated.

Lastly, the warranty term (4 years/50k miles) matches BMW/Lexus/Mercedes so no surprises there but I guess it is better than Ford and other brand's meager 3 years/36k miles

edit: Oh and the configurator is up: http://shop.lincoln.com/build/continental/#/chooseyourpath/

I got a 3.0 with the fancy roof and rear seats w/adapter cruise etc up to about $75k

The rear appears to be the least attractive part of the car - but I don't think it's bad. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I've said that so many times when people criticized the Genesis - and it applies here as well. I'm pretty confident the Continental will sell quite well. That interior appears to be a very nice place to spend time. I'm sure there will be PLENTY of Continental vs G90 comparisons in the media. The G90 will be very difficult to beat...

Looks nice! One thing that basically every other maker in this space offers (including this Lincoln Continental) that Hyundai isn't is different wheel options. I do like the wheels on our Genesis' and the G80 and G90 but still would be nice to have options.

Yes, options are always a good idea. And since wheels are such an important part of a car - it would/could definitely sway purchase decisions... Options are good...

Wheel options on a manufacturer website are not always what they are cracked up to be unless you can order a car from the factory and wait a few months (which cannot even be done for any Korean or Japanese cars that I know about). I have talked to dealers about cars that offered wheel options on the manufacturer website, and they said I could purchase the brand new wheels from the parts department and pay to have the tires remounted, but no credit for the existing wheels, so the prices are completely different than listed on the manufacturer website.

Yes I totally understand what you're saying. Also the wheel options are hardly ever available as a stand alone either. In most cases they are tied into some specific package so if you want a certain wheel you also have to get the "luxury" package or you have to get the GT or R/T trim, etc...

Still.....at least most other manufacturers have those options. To be fair, the G80 is going to have the "Sport" which I'm sure will offer different wheels.

It's not a huge gripe for me. I just noticed the Continental's wheel options on one of the last pages of that linked brochure so it was top of mind when I was posting.

You can always buy them from the parts department, but the dealer will not take the existing wheels in trade (or remount them for free) so they will cost a fortune.

Once a car gets delivered to a dealer, the dealer is not going to want to switch wheels (at incremental cost) in most cases. But at least for the Continental, I assume it can be custom ordered from the factory if one is willing to wait.

The warranty leaves much to be desired. Interior is real nice, exterior lights are nice but styling needs a fresher look something more distinctive to distinguish it more. Front looks a little like a Jaguar sedan.
