  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There is two types of Mobil 1 5w-20, one has a gray label and the other has a blue label. Both are Advanced Full Synthetic. The gray label said for gasoline engines, the blue does not.

Thanks for your help

In the USA, the blue label oil is High Mileage oil. Mobil says it is for use on engines over 75K miles, but I would not use it unless you have more than a 1/4 quart oil consumptions between oil changes, or if you have an oil leak.

But I would strongly recommend a 30 weight oil such as Mobil 1 5W-30 (gray label), or Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance (gold label), or Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy (green label), or Mobil 1 5W-30 High Mileage if your engine is consuming too much oil between oil changes.

If the Mobil 1 oil you are looking at is not one of those I mentioned above, it should have more specific information on the label about what it is. Do not use a European Formula oil on a Hyundai (the label should indicate that).

Thanks Mark_888 for the info. I bought Mobil 1 5W-30 (gray label). I have 26k on my 4.6 v8. Like you I don't drive that much since being retired. I use my Electric smart car to run around town.

Again thanks, Marty

I drive less since retiring many years ago - but have used Mobil 1 since it was introduced in 1975 - best thing ever invented.
