  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I went to the Miami International Auto Show. Genesis was there with 2 v6 ultimate G80's with AWD and a single G90. Since I've been closely following the Genesis sedan/G80 for about a year and also test driven one, there wasn't any surprises here. It was fun to plug my phone into one and listen to my own music to get a better test of the sound system. The G90 however, was very surprising and I liked it a ton. There is a lot of attention to detail in this car. The door speakers had real metallic(idk if its steel or aluminum) that I have never seen in a car before. I also liked how all the window shades in the back were all powered. The fully loaded $90k Cadillac CT6 had manual shades for the door windows...

Hyundai/Genesis is still offering a lot for less compared to the competition as I looked at just about every competitor in the building. I can't wait to own one.

I'm going this weekend. It's about a 90 drive from where I live. I'll be taking 750,000 pictures...

How was the show otherwise? I've been to the Detroit and Chicago auto shows but never Miami...

Other than BMW and Mini NOT being there, it was pretty good. There were some cars that I would have liked to sit in but they were locked though.

Time I had wished for automatic rear side door windows shades in my life? Never, in 29 years of car ownership (shit, I'm getting old).

I like the rear side shades, but the manual ones work perfectly fine. Adding the motor and mechanics for the automatic version just adds weight, and a few more things that can break. The manual shade should last for the life of the car.

There are luxury features that I really like in a car, but automatic shades seem like something you can show off to your buddies a few times and beyond that it serves no additional purpose.

I wonder if you could spot anything at all that was different between the 2016 Genesis and the 2017 G80 - other than the badge. By all accounts it's the same car, but I haven't seen a G80 yet ...

In my experience power side shades would be welcome. With two small kids it is difficult to raise and lower them from the front seats., would be very convenient to have them be automatic like the rear windshield sunscreen is. Hell, even the first Azera had power rear window sun screens, definately serve a purpose albeit not as important as power windows!

Did you listen to the radio in the G90? Somebody else said it's amazing.

we tried to listen to it but we were having problems. everything else was working and we would adjust the volume and you can see the volume bar moving up and down but nothing was coming through the speakers. one of the reps suggested putting our foot on the break and pressing the start engine button. it worked for about a second. after a while we gave up on trying.

on another note, i can somewhat agree with the necessity or lack of necessity of power rear window shades. since i dont plan on getting a G90, it doesnt make a difference to me. i used it as a point of what you get from a less expensive luxury car compared to a more expensive competitor. im sure the ct6 may have things the G90 does not but, its also about $25k more. I know that the cadillacs infotainment system is inferior. very confusing.

The rear shades are still in the 3.8 G80 models for sure. Back window shade is powered, two rear side windows are manual. I haven't seen a G80 V8 model yet, but I have seen both new G80 rwd and the AWD 3,8 models and they both had them but, the two that I saw both had the Premium package so they may not be in the base model.

Regards,

Ray

they were in the two ultimates that were at the show. just like 15-16 Genesis sedan, they were powered rear and manual side. i was kind of surprised they didnt have a v8 model. with two G80s on the floor they could/should have had a v8.
