  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wiper Replacement

I haven't tried,My wipers are loud, much louder than on my honda and mazda so i'm still trying to find the best brand

Yes, inserts are available. I just googled it and found 5-7 hits on Hyundai dealers selling the inserts. About $8/$12 for left and right.

Online, I found inserts to be almost as expensive as new blades (OEM)so I went with the new blades..... have been happy...and I'm sure they were less expensive than going through the dealer.

Are there wiper blade inserts that can be replaced, or does it have to be the entire wiper?

The rubber used on the originals are the best I have seen. I highly recommend you stick with the Hyundai originals. I believe one was $8 and the other $12 for the inserts.

Buy some Rain‑X Original Glass Water Repellent to treat your windshield, and also treat your wiper blades with Rain-X.

My oem blades left a lot of streaks! Switched to the Rain-x and they are better but still get some streaking from time to time.

The typical life of wiper blades is 6 months, due to UV damage from the sun. If you vehicle sat on the lot for several months before you purchased it, they may already be seeing the signs of UV damage. I always replace my blades consistently every 6 months and they work great. The standard wipers on the Genesis are great in my opinion compared to my other two branded vehicles. I'll be replacing these with OEM's when needed.

What I do is use rain x windshield washer fluid and the top of the line Bosch or trico blades are much better than the oems...they last over a year easy.

But my bmw oems were the best as those lasted over 2 years maybe 3

Agreed... These are the best wiper material I have ever seen. I still have the originals on my car since I purchased it in September 2014. Here in Florida, even buying top shelf wiper blades, most I would get out of them is 1.5 years.

i just was at my local hyundai dealer (well, one of them) and they said they don't sell the inserts. when i look at dealer parts department websites, they all seem to need a part number. how did you search to find ones near you? thanks for your help! they told me it would be $60 to replace the whole wiper blades. forget that!

FWIW, on a prior thread, some people raved about Valeo 900 Ultimates sold on Amazon.

Have tried 'em yet - My originals are still fine at 18 mos.

The part numbers for 2015 and 2016 wiper inserts are as follows:

  • INSERT, RIGHT - 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis (98361B1000)
  • INSERT, LEFT - 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis (98351B1000)
The left insert costs more than the right.

Looks like the price of those parts at a Kia dealer is less than at a Hyundai dealer.

Has anybody found a good way to replace the wipers. I find that with wipers off they are withdrawn all the way down under the hood edge its difficult to get the wiper arm up high enough and is a struggle to remove the old wiper. Most cars i have had allow the wiper arm to rotate up and allow for easier replacement of the wiper blade.

Your owner's manual has instructions on how to get the wipers to the "park" position so you can replace the blades. Basically, push the start button to start, then to off. Then immediately push up and hold the wiper stalk in the highest position until the blades park, then release it and they'll stay parked until one pushes the start button again.

Instructions are on page 7-39 in my manual for my 2015 Genesis.
