  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Gang,

My one month old 2016 3.8 Ultimate's door mounted mirrors just stopped tilting down when the transmission is placed in Reverse. Is there a setting someplace to reset this?

Regards,

Ray

Check the position of the mirror toggle switch. If it's in the middle it will not tilt

Note that "in the middle" means neither 'L' or 'R' is selected. You can toggle these off or on by pressing again. If neither is selected, the mirrors will not tilt (which I like to leave unless I need them to tilt for when I am near a curb, etc..)

Sorry guys, I failed to make myself clear. I am not asking about the mirror housings rotating in or out. I am asking about just the glass part tilting DOWN when backing up. I understand auto position of the whole mirror. When the mirrors are out (not in the closed or stored position) the mirror glass is not tilting down as it should when the transmission is placed in reverse.

Regards,

Ray

They've already answered your question correctly . BTW - it's clearly detailed on page 3-39 of the manual (though no one seems to check that anymore)...

yes we understand. We are not referring to the forward most switch. You are correct that switch controls the folding. We are pointing you to the actual L and R buttons. When neither L or R is selected, the tilt down is disabled. When EITHER L or R IS selected, the mirror will tilt down in revers. Press "L", and the LED indicator should light. When LIT, put your car in reverse, and the mirrors will tilt down. To disable, press "L" again, and the LED indicator will go off, and the tilt is disabled. Try it and let us know how it goes.

Great. I'm having difficulty learning Hyundai logic. I thought we had checked the user manual. Thanks everyone that answered.

Nikgen, thanks for taking the time to look up the user manual page reference.

Almost exactly. 3-39 is about the windows, but page 3-38 explains the Reverse parking aid function almost as clearly as jsmit86 above. :)

Thanks again guys for leading me thru the woods.

Hmmm... The reverse aid mirror function (mirrors tilting down) is on page 3-39 in my 2016 manual (USA) - 3-38 is the mirror folding function.

Interesting. I used the downloaded pdf user manual. It actually does not state if it is 2015 or 2016 but the copyright is 2014. It would not surprise me if the 2015 pdf is loaded in the 2016 myhundai.com site for download.

They still do not have a pdf for the 9.2 IN HD DIS jog wheel version - for either model year. duh

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to point it out for us. :)

Ray

I have a 2009 Hyundai Genesis this is not in the manual from my version of the car and I Have all the books that came with it. BUT it is the same was if you move it left then the mirrors both go down in reverse, if you put it in the middle neither one does, if you put the switch to the right only the right mirror goes down.
