If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought a used 2015 genesis and so far loving everything about it except its stock HID bulb color 4300k. I'd like to change the bulbs out myself but I have no idea where to start in removing the various components on the passenger side of the car that restricts access to the bulb housing.
So I'm just asking if there's a step by step guide or a video of some sort that I can follow?

I don't know if it's in the owner's manual, but just remove the 45 degree tubular bracket and the airbox and you should be good to go.

Stock color is 5000k

It looks like I could get away with just removing the plastic cover

take the cap off u can see there is a metal band that goes across the bulb all u have to do is remove one screw but make sure u DONT drop it in the headlight once u have the screw off just bend the metal ban over turn the bulb and remove it the wire is long so there is no problem with that on the bulb there is a metal ring around the bulb just put that on the new bulb put the bulb in bend the metal band back now tape the screw to a screwdriver so u don't drop it in the headlight once u start the screw in take the screwdriver off the screw remove the tape and tighten the screw now the most important part is NOT to drop the screw so be very very careful

I'm pretty sure that there 4300k due to halogen like yellow color.

What packages does your car have? The HIDs are part of the Signature Package, the base model will have Halogens only.

My HIDs are white, not a hint of yellow. Maybe your car is a base model, or the previous owner changed the HID bulbs to yellow ones? If not, maybe you can get them replaced under warranty?

I honestly don't know what packages it came with. I have a 3.8 htrac I'm not sure if that came with the HID set up as standard or the guy that had it before me changed the headlight. It has one socket that has an amber bulb which is the DRL and the turn signal and another socket for the Hi and Low HID bulb.

Thanks for the heads up; the bulbs are supposed to be coming in tomorrow so hopefully I don't drop that screw

Yep...It's 5000K white

So I attempted to change the bulbs out today only to find that they were screwed in on both sides; not only that but with how close they are to the wheel well firewall it almost impossible for me to unscrew the outer side of that bracket without breaking or something or not dropping that screw inside the housing. Not sure if I should have removed that as well or just taken out the headlight housing altogether which I have no idea how to.

With that said the garages in my area won't do it for anything less than $250 (1 hour of labor per bulb and $125 per of labor) I've tried the dealership service Dept and they swap out the bulb for me because it's still under warranty and they are not broken.

So does anybody have any suggestions at all I'm open any and all.

Holy $&@*,

$250 to change two bulbs? That's insane. Bad design, that's all I can say.

On my first car, I could buy bulbs for $5, and change them out without any instructions in 5 minutes, easily accessible by unhooking two latches and swapping out the bulb.

I hope someone can offer some assistance or ideas on how to do this, because $250 lobar plus the cost of the HIDs is simply insane for something as basic as changing a light bulb.

Have you tried claiming that the color of the HIDs is wrong, and thus they should cover the change under warranty?

It's almost as if Hyundai designed the car to be a "dealer only" vehicle. How many steps does it take to change out the air filters?

If you get the right size screwdriver you'll find that you can manage to take off the clamp behind D1S bulb by carefully unscrewing and bending it out of the way. Just be careful but take your time because you don't want to drop that screw in the housing.. goodluck! It's worth it

all u need to do is take out one screw then bend over the metal band thats what i did i didn't have a problem

Pull out the leading edge of the fender liner by removing the screw and plastic fasteners. Takes 2 minutes. If you try to take out the headlights to do the work - you have to take off the bumper. To take off the bumper you have to pull back the fender liners. See the thread on brightening up the LEDs for more details.

Thank you but could you send me the link to that thread because I can't seem to find it

I also have a 2016 Ultimate with HIDs and the factory bulbs definitely have yellow tint, like 4300K. When they are first turning on, they look like 5000K but once they get warm up (after a few mins) they turn to slightly yellowish 4300K. They are bright but the color just not matching the white DRL and the LED fog lights. I think 5000K will look great and match. I'm also planning to switch out the bulbs myself. It looks like not as easy as I thought..the D1S has bracket & screws and that tight space is not easily accessible...hmm. Is there a YT video or step by step write up on this forum? Thanks.
